Did You Know Hillsborough County

Is under federal supervision under the Voting Rights Act
Due to past practices that were found discriminatory to Hispanic voters;

the county must submit its new district map to the Justice Department for approval. Federal officials need to closely examine a map that waters down the clout of urban voters and minorities.

There is a way to draw fair districts, and this isn't it.

here

Republicans enjoy a super majority on the Hillsborough County Commission,

and they look intent on keeping it.
These People Are Shameless.

Hmm, let's evaluate your comments on this recent post.

Are you making the assertion that the recent map chosen for pre-clearance is biased based upon ethnic composition? ... OR ... Are you making the assertion that the recent map chosen for pre-clearance is biased based upon political ideology composition?

I wish folks like you and the Hillsborough County Hispanic Democratic Caucus would get your message straight!

How about this...Democrats should put up candidates that best represent their core beliefs just as the Republicans do. Then in the general election, it is up to the people to decide which candidate should best represent them...that is our process you know!

Furthermore, Democrats have 60,000+ more registered voters in Hillsborough County...So, why isn't there a super majority of Democrats on the Commission?
