Sarasota Rightwing school board member Bridget Ziegler

Has taken aim at the Black Lives Matter movement. On September 14, she posted a video about Black Lives Matter and the Civil Rights Movement from BrainPop, a widely used learning resource that creates instructional videos for schools.

“Our job is to educate, not indoctrinate,”

said Ziegler, referring to the movement to end violence against Black people in America. Now Ziegler is trying to find out which teachers used the BrainPop video, and looking into the company’s contract with the school district. HERE

Helena L Green on Thomas Scott

He can be a public servant, he just needs to do it from the sidelines. He has had his time. No more business as usual, electing people because of titles and friendships. Sky is young and vibrant and should be looked upon as the future. All these old and played out politicians really need to fade to the back! They have had their times and turns! Need to go sit down somewhere. They should be trying to nurture and mentor Sky! As I always say, it's time for fresh faces and new ideas! Let's go SKY WHITE!

Florida Demon Buster Kimberly Daniels

Earlier this month, controversial Florida legislator and pastor Kimberly Daniels filed HB 195, legislation that would amend a current state law that permits school districts to offer elective Bible classes. Daniels’ bill would require every school district in the state to offer a set of courses about religion, the Hebrew scriptures, and the Christian Bible.
---
Daniels, a self-described “demon buster” and “apostle,” has sponsored other Project Blitz legislation, including a bill to require public schools to post “In God We Trust” in “a conspicuous place.” (That legislation became law last year.) God TV celebrated the introduction of Daniels’ new bill, saying it brought Florida “[o]ne step close to seeing prayer in public schools again.” HERE

Florida GOP Brian Mast On Right Wing Radio

He appeared this week on a right-wing radio show with hosts who bill themselves as "anti-Islam."
Rep. Brian Mast appeared on Tuesday's Right Side Patriots radio show alongside conservative commentators Diane Sori and
Craig Andresen.
Mast did not make any anti-Muslim comments during his Tuesday hit, however after Mast's appearance, Sori and Andresen went on to accuse Muslim-American candidates of committing "ballot box jihad" with recent election victories. more

Rick Scott Shameless Right-Wing Ideologue

Rick Scott. Florida's Republican governor, has spent his time in Tallahassee building a reputation as one of the most shameless right-wing ideologues in the country. He's second only to Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin in terms of pushing a far-right agenda onto a swing state.
-----
Now he's running against incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson in one of this fall's most high-profile races, and already Scott is awash in accusations of shady, corrupt behavior. here

Local Right Winger Barbara Haselden

Founder of the tea party-affiliate South Pinellas 912 Patriots. She is very patriotic and has called the NFL protests "shameful." She is organizing a Tampa rally at the Bucs/Giants game on today.
----------
Haselden said she thinks the majority of the country objects to players kneeling during the anthem.

Fact Check: A Cato Institute poll released Monday found that 61 percent of Americans think NFL players who refuse to stand for the anthem should keep their jobs and 38 percent believe they should be fired.
----------
She thinks the game is too politicized.

Florida Right Wing Propaganda

The Florida agency tasked with investigating Planned Parenthood clinics found no evidence that they were mishandling fetal remains, but
Gov. Rick Scott's office altered
the agency's statements to remove language that exonerated Planned Parenthood, and added new language that made the organization look guilty of wrongdoing. Several media outlets unwittingly quoted the statements before the misleading edits were discovered. here
