Dems Join Florida Frackers
The Florida Senate gave preliminary approval Friday to a bill sought by Florida Power & Light to allow the company to charge customers for investments in natural gas fracking operations in other states.
------------------------------------
Supporters of the bill
Democratic Leader Oscar Braynon of Miami and incoming Senate Democratic Leader Jeff Clemens of Lake Worth.
Other Dems voting for the bill in committee with Braynon and Clemens were Sens. Lauren Book of Plantation, Perry Thurston of Fort Lauderdale, and Bill Montford of Tallahassee. here

Hillsborough County Right Wing Infestation
Florida GOP County Commissioner Sandy Murman says she is "probably" going to leave her district seat to run for a countywide seat in 2018. Murman faces a 2020 term limit. Jumping to a countywide seat would restart her term limit clock. here

DEMS BEWARE
Florida GOP Victor Crist and Ken Hagan could also be seeking new seats that would enable them to avoid term limits.

Florida INC. Workers' Compensation Policy
Florida is already one of the hardest states for workers seeking treatment or lost wages when injured on the job. Now lawmakers are trying again to make it more difficult for employees to sue when they have wrongly been denied workers' compensation. Senate bills would impose new caps on workers' attorney fees in such disputes, which critics say will discourage lawyers from taking cases. here
------------
Backers don't entirely deny the charge.
"What we're trying to do is reduce attorney involvement in the system," said Rep. Danny Burgess, a Zephyrhills Republican leading the House legislation.
