I actually oppose this program after meeting one of the consultants on the project. Her position was that motorists have little or no responsibility in crashes involving pedestrians. Speeding motorists is the #1 traffic problem in the Bay Area; improving that would make roads safer for everyone. Our current system protects reckless drivers, not a sustainable practice for walkable, or bikeable, communities.
