Letters From GOP Hillsborough County Commissioners

Letter I sent our county commissioners
on the issue of transit.

"I have been a HART rider for over 10 years. More roads does not help me at all. STOP spending our money on roads. We want more buses and rail. We have one of the worst transit systems in the country. With the exception of Ms. Kemp are you all in developers pockets?"
-----
Thank you for contacting the office of Commissioner Crist about funding for public transit.  I will be sure to share your thoughts and concerns on the issue with the Commissioner.
Sincerely,
Chris Heintz
Legislative Aide
Commissioner Crist, District 2
-----
Thank you so much for contacting our office regarding Transit. Your input regarding this issue is important  to the Commissioner. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and opinions with us. Have a great day and please don’t hesitate to call our office if we can be of further assistance.
Sincerely,
Ms. Eli Rodriguez
Aide to County Commissioner Al Higginbotham
Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners
-----
Thank you for your email. Commissioner Hagan is just as frustrated as you are about the need for funding adequate transit in Tampa/Hillsborough county. That is why he was the only Republican on the Board to support placing the sales tax referendum on the ballot last year. Unfortunately, a majority of board members opposed that plan.

The hard truth is that we have billions of dollars in unmet infrastructure needs in Hillsborough county and the only way to begin to address that is to have a dedicated funding source of tax dollars—this has been very hard to come by. But Commissioner Hagan is committed to continue fighting to address our transportation needs in a meaningful and rational way. In the meantime, the Board will soon finalize a transportation plan that will dedicate $700 million over 10 years to improve existing roads and provide congestion relief where possible in Hillsborough county. Feel free to share with us any questions you may have concerning this plan. And please let us know if we can ever be of service to you. Have a great day.

How to spend a $7.9 million surplus.

Murman, wants the surplus to go immediately toward fixing roads. She threatened to keep commissioners there all day with motions to allocate the money for transportation and questioned their commitment to solving the problem.

I mean, really." Murman

Cojones-Less Hillsborough County Commissioners

Exception Kevin Beckner
-----------
The Hillsborough BOCC has voted 6-1 in favor of the $600m plan to raid the existing budget to further subsidize sprawl. Outgoing commissioner Kevin Beckner was the lone no vote. Virtually 100% of the spending will occur in areas where developers are building houses, but are not providing adequate infrastructure. Instead, the county is increasingly taking money from taxpayers in established neighborhoods (Tampa), and using it to subsidize new growth. here
----------
After a show of force by citizens at Wednesdays meeting they still voted against us. Hillsborough Dems wake up, you have the power,
do the the math.

god-awful Sandy Murman.

GOP Tim Schock Running Scared

Tim Schock has had plenty of chances to debate Pat Kemp. He failed to show at last Friday’s Tiger Bay debate in Ybor City. . He has repeatedly declined offers by the League of Women Voters to schedule a debate. Sandra Sroka, president of the Hillsborough County League of Women Voters, said that the League had made tentative plans to host a forum between Kemp and Schock, but that Schock said he had a conflict on the initial date they proposed. She said they would see if they could change the date, but she  says that after not hearing back from Schock, they had to make a decision. Vic DiMaio with the Tampa Tiger Bay Club says that Schock also had a conflict on the date that they had scheduled, and that they couldn’t reschedule. here
----------
Schock is nothing but a developers pawn. With the $600 Million our current commissioners just gave away to developers he is the last person we need on our commission. With Trump bringing the GOP down and the Clinton landslide coming he knows that Kemp is about to kick his ass. Kemp is a local icon and has the voters trust. He, has nothing to say to voters!

Marijuana laws are changing all over the country, yet, here in Hillsborough County our elected leaders are banning
dispensaries. County commissioners heard from
a handful of residents
demanding commissioners ban new dispensaries from opening. here
So they did here. Is this a case of
"Follow the money"
or is "The Citrus Taliban" in complete control of

Toll Road Warrior Tim Schock

Why this guy? Why now?
Ever wonder when we are in a fight with the Florida DOT over our children's future along comes a man who use to work for the toll road industry. What were his motives to run? Is he a lobbyist for developers, for the TBX people? Is this who we want on our County Commission? This Novenber vote wisely. He is running against transit champion Pat Kemp.

Hillsborough County Commissioners To Approve $85,000 In Corporate Welfare

The Citrus Taliban Infestation Of The Hillsborough County Commission

“We know there was a concentrated and deliberate effort by an organized group out there to target some of the other commissioners.”
The commissioners received emails and phone calls from about two dozen people , mostly calling on behalf of their church, to oppose an LGBT Pride and History Month.
A few dozen emails and voicemails are not an indication of how the more than 1.2 million residents throughout Hillsborough County feel; the other commissioners allowed this small group to keep them silent.

Hillsborough County GOP Corruption

County commissioners are expected to vote Wednesday on $25,000 worth of subsidies to incentivize a Hillsborough County film company to shoot a film in Hillsborough County. The proposed incentive, designed to "secure the local filming of the motion picture," will cover 10% of the budget for No Postage Necessary, a film produced by Plant City-based Two Roads Picture Co. here
According to county records, the majority owner of Two Roads, Jennifer Closshey, has been a regular campaign contributor to commissioners over the last decade, donating $2,500 to Al Higginbotham, $250 to Ken Hagan, and $250 to Stacey White.
Mr Hagan and Mr. White, you guys come cheap!

The Citrus Taliban Rules In Hillsborough County

The Citrus Taliban In Tampa

A Christian local government employee in Tampa has claimed that flying a Pride flag in wake of the Orlando shootings has created a “hostile work environment”. here

It is unclear why a worker would anonymously complain to a Republican anti-LGBT Commissioner but not to their direct superiors or anyone who could actually respond to their concerns beyond using them to make a political point.
