Ilena Ros-Lehtinen's Party In Coconut Grove

Florida GOP Rep. Ilena Ros-Lehtinen
and her husband, Dexter, are throwing a party next month at the
Coconut Grove Ritz Carlton in Miami
to celebrate three decades of matrimony.
In lieu of gifts, their guests can send $1,000 to the IRL PAC (Ros-Lehtinen’s leadership PAC) or purchase a table for $5,000.
Because nothing says true love like political fundraising. here

Florida Right Wingers Slam Obama For Castro Handshake

The Hug
"Sometimes a handshake is just a handshake, but when the leader of the free world shakes the bloody hand of a ruthless dictator like Raul Castro, it becomes a propaganda coup for the tyrant,"...Rep. Ilean Ros-Lehtinen
Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez has noted that the handshake was not shown on Cuban television. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen also seems to forget that a big part of Cuban propaganda is getting Cubans to think that its the imperialist hand of any U.S. President that is actually bloodied. We doubt the Castro regime wants to make more of the handshake then what it was.

Anti-Communist Rafael Cruz

The more we learn about Rafael Cruz, the more the existence of Ted Cruz begins to make sense. Rafael Cruz was born in 1939 in Matanzas, Cuba; at 14 years old he fought for Fidel Castro, though he later claimed he “didn’t know Castro was a Communist.” After Castro’s regime turned bad, Rafael disowned his former leader, left for Texas to become a mathematician, and later instilled a seething hatred of anything

remotely Communist into Ted Cruz.....more

Miami Cubans Feud With Fidel

The Chamber of the Americas’ upcoming cultural mission to Cuba is generating substantial interest but also some scorn. The outrage comes from the stereotypical suspects — the aging and politically potent but attenuated Cuban-American émigrés engaged in an interminable feud with Fidel Castro that’s more psychological than political or practical. The Cuban-American political cachet has diminished — but not their fury. Engaged in activism that isn’t altogether altruistic, their ongoing mission resembles a personal vendetta rather than suffrage or liberation.......more

Tampa And Miami In Cold War Over Cuban Trade

We Were Here First
Tampa, whose Cuban population first came from the island in the 1800s, has spent the past decade on a careful plan to build relationships with Cuban officials.

Hypocrisy Of Ileana Ros-Lehtinen

Here she is on CNN discussing why Cuba must remain on State Sponsor of Terrorism list.
This is a woman who is a member of the party that started a war that killed a million Iraqis,
4,488 Americans, 32,021 Wounded and gave safe haven to Luis Posada Carriles, the anti-Cuban terrorist jointly responsible for bombing a Cubana airliner, killing 73 people.
The Castro brothers might be alot of things but they are not mass murderers.

Miami's Terrorism: Businesswoman Tired of being Victimized!

April 27, 2013 marked the one-year anniversary of the domestic terrorist attack.
Vivian Mannerud is one of Miami's most decent citizens and she is arguably South Florida's most respected businesswoman. She owned an airline -- Airline Brokers Company -- in the Miami suburb of Coral Gables. Her airline had all the legal licences to fly her eager passengers from Miami to Havana and back. She has lived in Miami long enough to know how dangerous it is for anyone or any business to remotely be involved in anything considered a positive for Cuba or for Cuban-Americans wanting to visit relatives on the island. And she is well aware that bombs -- car-bombs, house-bombs, and business-bombs -- are the weapons of choice for the Miami terrorists. She also believes it is time the authorities -- local, state, and/or federal -- protected and/or sought justice for honest citizens and legal businesses. Instead, she believes authorities are too afraid or merely unwilling to act.

MCM: Joe Garcia Joins The Family

Cuban-American lawmakers (Miami Cuban Mafia) are pressing the Obama administration to keep Cuba on its list of state sponsors of terrorism as the State Department prepares to release its annual assessment next week. The four Cuban-Americans in the House are drafting a joint letter to Secretary of State John Kerry laying out why they think the communist island still meets the criteria established by the 1979 sanctions law. And the Senate's three Cuban-Americans are also vocally opposed to delisting Cuba, which was first added in 1982. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) told The Hill she's collaborating with Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.), Albio Sires (D-N.J.) and (New family member) Joe Garcia (D-Fla.) on a letter urging the State Department to retain Cuba alongside Iran, Syria and Sudan.

Miami Cuban Mafia: Rabid Anti-Cuban US Politicians

Ridiculous Republicans
Florida Republican Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart are hot under the collar over the brief visit to Cuba by music stars Beyonce and Jay-Z and have demanded a US Treasury Department investigation. The politicians called Cuba's government a "murderous regime" that "ruthlessly suppresses the most basic liberties."
That's tough stuff coming from members of the party that brought torture to United States soil, started a war that killed a million Iraqis and gave safe haven to Luis Posada Carriles, the anti-Cuban terrorist jointly responsible for bombing a Cubana airliner, killing 73 people.
Diaz-Balart is the Florida-born son of Rafael Diaz-Balart, a Cuban fascist and chief torturer under dictator Fulgencio Batista. Meanwhile Ros-Lehtinen is notorious for having called for Fidel Castro's assassination and for supporting an amnesty for Orlando Bosch, Carriles's co-conspirator in terrorism. When the US trades freely with other countries led by communist parties, its obsession with maintaining its anachronistic cold war hostility to revolutionary Cuba exposes Washington to global ridicule.
The Obama administration should cut itself loose from Miami-based nostalgics and open a new era of normality with Cuba.

Republicans Call for Tougher Sanctions on Beyoncé

Arguing that their recent trip to Cuba had made them “America’s No. 1 national-security threat,” a group of Republican lawmakers today called for tougher sanctions on the entertainers Beyoncé and Jay-Z. “We must send a strong message to Beyoncé and Jay-Z that the United States of America will not tolerate this kind of provocation,” said Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Florida), who blamed President Obama for “permitting the crisis to escalate dangerously.” “While the President has allowed himself to be distracted by North Korea, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were engaged in threatening activities right in our own hemisphere,” he said, charging the President with being “soft on Beyoncé.” Echoing his sentiments, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen called for the “toughest economic sanctions possible to isolate the growing threat posed by Beyoncé and Jay-Z.”

White House spokesman Jay Carney cautioned that they would probably have little to no effect: “Right now, Jay-Z and Beyoncé have more money than the U.S. government does.”

Happy Wedding Anniversary

Beyonce and Jay-Z tour Old Havana to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary.
The Miami Cuban Mafia was enraged over the trip and sent a letter to the Treasury Department official responsible for policing the embargo to demand to be told who approved the travel and for what purpose.

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (La Señora) raised the issue of the Carters' visit with the Obama administration, denouncing it as having provided sustenance to the "murderous" Castro regime.

U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor It Is Time To End The Embargo Against Cuba

The Tampa Democrat voiced those thoughts and made history by becoming the first Florida member of Congress to publicly support lifting the embargo when she made a speech March 22 at an evening reception at Mise en Place for the Rapprochement With Cuba conference.

Editorial: U.S. Should Engage, Not Isolate, Cuba

Thank You, Tampa Bay Times. My Hometown Newspaper
A Cuba without a Castro is now on the horizon, and the United States and Florida should be prepared for the opportunity. This is the time to reconsider the out-of-date hard line from an older generation and end the failed Cuba embargo. The relaxed travel rules implemented last month by the Cuban government will let Cubans who can afford it to travel freely and return to their country. This is good news for the Cuban people who have lived as virtual prisoners on the island nation. It means, ironically, that Cubans now enjoy greater freedom to come to the United States than our government gives Americans
to travel to Cuba.
President Barack Obama could eliminate the remaining travel restrictions
imposed on Americans traveling to Cuba.
Change is coming to Cuba, and this is the time for American engagement instead of isolation.

Best Of Babalu: Senator No

The folks over at Babalu are gushing over their new found friend Cuban-American Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. After all he did vote against Senate rule changes to modestly curb filibusters, aid for Superstorm Sandy victims and the Violence Against Women Act. He also was one of only three "no" votes against Massachusetts Democratic Sen. John Kerry's nomination to be secretary of State. And he publicly skewered President Obama’s nominee for Defense secretary, former Nebraska Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel. Lets hope he is not around if another Sandy ever visits South Florida or the coast of Texas.

Yoani Sanchez: Trade Embargo A Failure

what she’s had to say as the world’s best known critic of the Castro regime that was the most controversial, at least in the United States. She’s urged the end of the U.S. government’s trade embargo against her homeland, calling it a failure. she called the embargo “a fossil of the Cold War that does not have any sense in the modern world in which we live.” She added that its existence gave the Cuban government “the best argument . . . to explain its ineffective economy.”

The Sugar Reform Act

You don't normally see DWT championing bills introduced by anti-Choice fanatic and far right extremist Joe Pitts (R-PA). But when he introduced H.R. 693 last week, a new day of bipartisanship may not have dawned. Congress has tackled this before but between Fanjul DC consiglieres Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), the legislation has always been derailed. Now the grotesquely corrupt Wasserman Schultz has accumulated even more power than ever before and she is working assiduously to shore up the interests of her benefactors, regardless of what it costs the very people who vote her into office year after year after year.
