As COVID surge continues, is the booster still working against new variants?

The summer COVID surge isn’t over. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported hospitalizations jumped another 21.6% last week, and deaths rose by more than 8%.

While the CDC doesn’t track the number of people testing positive anymore, the weeks of rising hospitalizations show people are still getting seriously ill with the virus more than three years into the public health battle against it. However, an updated booster could still be a month or two away from being released.

Florida’s ‘Stop WOKE’ restricts businesses from training on some race-related issues; a court will hear a challenge

A federal appeals court this week will hear arguments in a fight about a 2022 Florida law that placed restrictions on how race-related issues can be addressed in workplace training — part of what Gov. Ron DeSantis dubbed the “Stop WOKE Act.”

Attorneys for the state want the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn a preliminary injunction that Chief U.S. District Judge Mark Walker issued last year to block the workplace-training part of the law. Walker agreed with businesses and a consultant that the restrictions violated the First Amendment.

Matt Gaetz Makes SHOCKING Admission About Desire To Impeach Biden

During a live session on Twitter this week, Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz admitted that the goal of impeaching President Biden wouldn't be to actually impeach him - it would be to set a "stage" for the American people to see him on trial. In other words, the whole thing would be for show in a feeble attempt to tarnish Biden before next year's election. It sounds an awful lot like those "political persecutions" Republicans have been railing against all year, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

LOBBYING COST: Huge donations grant access to DeSantis in pay for play scheme

A new report by The Washington Post describes the shockingly open means by which lobbyists gained access to DeSantis. At least it was simple.

DeSantis would assess the lobbyist’s clientele and then make an “ask,” which could be up to a million dollars but was usually lower, anywhere from $25K to $500k depending on the clients, and they would get a round of golf with a man who can’t hold a regular conversation with people over dinner. (Though he sold dinners, too).

In DeSantis’ Florida, we’re raising our children to be closed-minded and ignorant

In Ron DeSantis’ Florida, teachers are expected to present a version of the world in which “gender” is not to be spoken of, “gay” likewise, there’s no climate crisis — the weather’s always changing! — Shakespeare needs to be toned down, the human body is disgusting, slavery had an upside, America is the best country that ever was and ever will be, and books that challenge any of these self-evident truths must be banned.....MORE

New College in Sarasota, a tiny school whose curriculum is focused on the humanities, “is experiencing record enrollment with an increase of over 300 students this year, marking the highest enrollment of new students in school history,” the governor’s office said in a press release.
