‘To a Land Unknown’ Paints a Stirring Portrait of Palestinian Displacement

Director Mahdi Fleifel’s crime drama To a Land Unknown, which had its world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, follows a fairly simple plot: Two Palestinian refugees, Chatila (Mahmoud Bakri) and Reda (Aram Sabbah), have been stranded in Athens for months after fleeing a refugee camp in Lebanon.
