Progress Village Sign Bandit

These video stills were taken by one of my supporters who continues to have my signs taken from their front yard in the Progress Village area. This time, it was recorded. This is the state of our community during election season. A few months ago we confronted an individual who admitted to being PAID to take up my signs. It's disappointing to know that my opponents, whom are all considered respectable elders in our community, tout their "experience" and "maturity" that qualifies them to run again.

Does this behavior exemplify a "mature" leader? Does this behavior bring our community closer?

Bernie: Our Movement is Winning

All across the country, up and down the ballot, progressive candidates are standing up for working people, fighting back against their establishment-backed opponents, and winning their primaries.

We saw it just this week with Cori Bush's remarkable victory in Missouri, and Rashida Tlaib's landslide win defending her seat 
in Michigan.

We've seen it in New York and Washington, with congressional candidates like Jamaal Bowman and Pramila Jayapal. With district attorneys and prosecutor races, too, like Amy Padden in Colorado and Eli Savit in Michigan.

These victories are happening nationwide because our movement has stood together. And now, more progressives across the country with primaries happening very soon are counting on us to stand with them.

District 3 is “the most marginalized district in Hillsborough County and also the poorest district in Hillsborough County. It also is the most neglected district in Hillsborough County, what the county needs to do is make sure we have someone on the Board of County Commissioners that’s advocating for this marginalized community. We can’t keep electing the same people that’s had the opportunity to build equity and chose not to."

Sky U. White's Grassroots Campaign

Our campaign is grass roots. Our volunteers are full-time nurses, teachers, small business owners, retired physicians and veterans; people who are committed to see the change that was promised by our prior elected official but never fulfilled. Therefore, who we accept money from is a big deal. We REFUSE to take a single dime from reckless developers and special interest groups.

However, my opponent chooses otherwise.

According to the public Campaign Finance report produced by Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, Bishop Thomas Scott,my opponent, has received over $20,000 in campaign donations from reckless land developers. One such funder is Stephen Dibbs, a developer who specializes in building sprawling strip malls, commercial plazas and even sued the county in an attempt to build on protected wetlands.

HERE IS WHY THIS IS A PROBLEM:

Considering your County Commissioners are responsible for regulating development in our county, the fastest growing parts of District 3 has been over run by urban sprawl, congestion and an increase in housing costs. We have good developers who support affordable housing and we have those who are filled with greed and have no regard to the well-being of our residents.

You elect your Commissioner because you trust them to make the best possible decisions for the people that they represent. Seeing the current state of our district, can we TRULY say we have progressed? We must ask ourselves: What are these developers expecting from their donation?

We are no longer electing politicians who only seek to profit off of the backs of our hard working residents. Please share this post if you stand on the side
