A Few Words From Rick Fernandez

Last week, I called out Peter Schorsch as an unscrupulous parasite after his impotent attempt to smear Lynn Hurtak . Here, we see La Gaceta has done more reporting on the relevant parties, including Ashley Brooke Bauman Janet Cruz Rifkin Janet Cruz Jane Castor ... My thought is that Schorsch used his political rag to publish a long form campaign hit piece pitched (if not authored) by Bauman. The only names missing from this cast of flawed souls are Bob Buckhorn and the Mayor's partner, Ana Cruz (the self-proclaimed first lady of Tampa). But, rest assured, they are just off stage.
The only honorable person in this whole disgusting episode is Lynn Hurtak. The rest should be ashamed of themselves.
There are significant problems with candidate Janet Cruz. Conflict of interest concerns have been raised. Temperament and judgment issues were raised during the NAACP candidate forum. No issues are more important to me, as a voter, than values and character.
On all these criteria, Cruz has fallen far short of the mark. She should have retired from politics after her state senate loss. Instead, she and her team of hapless hacks are daily destroying whatever reputation she had left. Tampa deserves far better.
Fortunately, with Lynn Hurtak on Council, we have far better. I am honored to support her.
Please share this with your friends. My reach is too limited to make a difference. Together, we can make sure voters are informed.

Marco Rubio's Deal with the Devil

The much-anticipated U.S. Senate race in Florida between the Republican incumbent Marco Rubio and the Democratic challenger U.S. Rep. Val Demings is on.

One of the more interesting aspects of this matchup is how Rubio arrived at this critical time and place.

Florida Republicans don’t want you to know

Social welfare made Sweden’s coronavirus recovery easier, but Florida Republicans don’t want you to know that.

I won’t even get to the irony that right-wing Republicans went from loathing Sweden as a Bernie Sanders socialists’ wet dream only to turn around and view the nation as its shining light in pandemic policy. That low-hanging fruit is too easy and too obvious. HERE

Pay-for-Play Blogger Continues to Disgrace Himself with Racist Tweet

No one ever confused Peter Schorsch with Heywood Campbell Broun, Ernie Pyle, Nellie Bly, or even the rawest
cub reporter.
Schorsch is the St. Petersburg-based owner of Florida Politics, the widely acknowledged pay-for-play echo chamber for Florida politicians, political operatives, and lobbyists that lamely attempts to pass itself off as a “news” website.
On Saturday, the day before the “Souls to the Polls” American ritual, Schorsch posted the (above) abhorrent tweet.  His vile sentiments went viral before he could pull it.  The fact that Schorsch’s racist garbage received seven likes and one retweet mystifies.

Silence From The Florida Democratic Party

Yesterday I wrote about Bill Nelson's cowardly act of ending the government shutdown. Where are the voices of the Florida Democratic party leaders? Not a peep from any of them. I will not mention names, you know who you are.
----------
With his vote he not only took the wind out of the sails of Dreamers but of the progressive wing of the party who have been trying to frame this as a Trump/GOP shutdown.
----------
Now today a post on the questionable website "Florida Politics" a survey is posted that Bill Nelson’s approval is best among senators running in swing states. A survey that is dated January 23, 2018.
how Convenient.

Florida GOP Culture Of Corruption

In one case a female Florida Department of Transportation worker was grabbed by the throat and beaten by her male supervisor. He was not fired.
-----
In another, a Department of Corrections worker was photographed fully nude by an inspector who erroneously told her photos of her naked body parts were needed to investigate an inmate complaint against her.
------
In a third case, a female Department of Health worker was sexually harassed and later put on administrative leave. She was relocated after reporting the incident.
-----
Snapshots of harassment settlements, mostly related to sexual misconduct, agreed to by Gov. Rick Scott’s administration since he took office in 2011. Source

Richard Corcoran Florida's Biggest Loser

He had to pay fellow blogger (And what ever else it is he does) Peter Schorsch $20,000
to name him biggest winner.

"When allocations come down, it has to be recognized - again - the masterful play by @RichardCorcoran," Peter Schorsch, gushed on Twitter  the same day Corcoran made the payment.
After the session finally ended, Schorsch crowned Corcoran the biggest winner:
"He’s the master of the House. No, make that the Capitol....Light up another Montecristo: This ride is just gettin’ started."

Mr. Corcoran do the right thing and we will call
 you a winner for free.

Florida's New Superhero Jim Lange

Polk and Lake
counties your chance to rid yourselves of your Right Wing Infestation.

Check out this guy:
* He established and runs the Haiti Recovery & Development Co., a nonprofit he created shortly after learning about the devastating earthquake there that killed nearly 300,000 people more than six years ago.
----------
* His stance on immigration, he refers to his American Indian heritage to guide his path (his mother was of Choctaw descent). “Immigration without restrictions didn’t work out very well for us, but as an American at this moment in time in 2016, I am not going to take any stance that says I’m running 12 million people out of the country,” he said. “If we can put a probe on Mars, we can figure out a way to path you to citizenship.”
----------
* He expressed disappointment about Washington lawmakers’ hesitancy to allow Syrian refugees to enter the U.S. PresidentBarack Obama has said he would like to bring in at least 10,000 over the next year, saying he’s confident in the vetting process.
* And,  he supports “common sense reforms” such as removing cannabis from the Controlled Substance act. here
