Councilwoman Hurtak focused on rapid rehousing options for families

A portion of the annual budget, which was passed by Tampa City Council, has been allocated for affordable housing. District 3 City Councilwoman Lynn Hurtak has announced that funds will be set aside to address the growing issue of homelessness. Her priority will be to focus on rapid rehousing for families. She says her proposal could fill the gap and house families that may not qualify to stay at existing shelters.....MORE

Tampa City Councilwoman Lynn Hurtak says FBI raid ‘was solely related to my husband's work as a journalist’

Two days after agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigations seized electronics from her husband Timothy Burke, Tampa City Councilwoman Lynn Hurtak told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that, “Based on the information we have, it appears that the search warrant executed at our home on Monday was solely related to my husband's work as a journalist.”....MORE

In Tampa's District 3 City Council race, Lynn Hurtak's win over Janet Cruz is a 'referendum' on more than just the mayor

A Few Words From Rick Fernandez

Last week, I called out Peter Schorsch as an unscrupulous parasite after his impotent attempt to smear Lynn Hurtak . Here, we see La Gaceta has done more reporting on the relevant parties, including Ashley Brooke Bauman Janet Cruz Rifkin Janet Cruz Jane Castor ... My thought is that Schorsch used his political rag to publish a long form campaign hit piece pitched (if not authored) by Bauman. The only names missing from this cast of flawed souls are Bob Buckhorn and the Mayor's partner, Ana Cruz (the self-proclaimed first lady of Tampa). But, rest assured, they are just off stage.
The only honorable person in this whole disgusting episode is Lynn Hurtak. The rest should be ashamed of themselves.
There are significant problems with candidate Janet Cruz. Conflict of interest concerns have been raised. Temperament and judgment issues were raised during the NAACP candidate forum. No issues are more important to me, as a voter, than values and character.
On all these criteria, Cruz has fallen far short of the mark. She should have retired from politics after her state senate loss. Instead, she and her team of hapless hacks are daily destroying whatever reputation she had left. Tampa deserves far better.
Fortunately, with Lynn Hurtak on Council, we have far better. I am honored to support her.
Please share this with your friends. My reach is too limited to make a difference. Together, we can make sure voters are informed.

We need a shake up and a council that will challenge Mayor Jane Castor’s plan to dumpy shitty water with chemicals into our drinking water and a council that will stop her rubber stamp of police misconduct at TPD.
