Gov. DeSantis' book-burning plan

" To cancel black history (and a lot of other history too) goes back 150 years to the brutal suppression of black people following reconstruction and the skewed & incomplete history we've learned for more than a century. Here, Dr. Henry Louis Gates draws a through line from DeSantis to Mildred Lewis Rutherford of the Daughters of the Confederacy & there's no paywall (or Gov.) to stop you from learning this history yet. So read it now while you still can & make sure it's known and shared."

Commissioner Pat Kemp proudly in support of Lynn Hurtak

"I’m proudly in support of keeping Lynn Hurtak on our Tampa City Council. She had a nice crowd at the Independent in Seminole Heights last night. She’s doing a great job & she happens to be the only woman on our City Council. Go Lynn Hurtak!"

Words of Commissioner Pat Kemp

"We stand with Andrew Warren. This is an extremely dark day for Florida, our own January 6th moment. This is absolutely a political act by Governor DeSantis.
I'm horrified, disgusted & outraged. This is very dangerous for Hillsborough County and the State of Florida. It's an egregious act of abuse of power by the Governor right out of the Trump playbook.

We the People, the voters of Hillsborough County and the State of Florida, must remove this Governor from power at the ballot box this November."

Commissioner Kemp on John Dingfelder

Former City Councilman John Dingfelder was a dedicated & caring public servant. His resignation is a travesty. I stand with those supporting Councilman Dingfelder as he stood for the community.
From Creative Loafing: "I stand here with a heavy heart this morning because of Councilman Dingfelder's resignation, we lost the body that we elected," of Neighborhoods (THAN) told council. "The bullying of our local officials is sickening."
I'm fully with attn. James Shaw. The City of Tampa should never again refuse to represent a member sued under Chapter 119 -
Sunshine law.
Local attorney James Michael Shaw Jr. tweeted that the forced resignation of Dingfelder, "sets a terrible precedent for the removal of elected officials by private individuals with personal agendas.

From Creative Loafing: "If not closed off as an option, expect our [city] to employ it again and again, against anyone with the backbone to stand up to them," Shaw wrote. "Tampa City Council should immediately pass an ordinance requiring the City to defend elected officials sued under Chapter 119."

Tell Tampa City Council to Reverse Course

"Thank you Commissioners Mariella Smith and Patricia Kemp for writing Tampa City Council to urge us to reverse course and support the Tenants Bill of Rights. Commissioner Kimberly Overman will be speaking to Council in support of this initiative." Tampa City Councilman
