Elizabeth Belcher: MacDill Ferry Was A Better Idea

The first proposal: South Shore to MacDill
The second proposal: Tampa to St.Pete
So guess which one our "brilliant" commissioners select. The second, of course. It is a test to see if the ferry could be a viable option, i.e., be able to pay for itself. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but this really smacks of a plot to ensure the ferry proposal is a failure. The commissioners will then be able to point to it as an excuse not to fund ferries. rere

The Kriseman Administration Takes The Lead

Big news for ferries in Tampa Bay. The City of St. Petersburg is taking the lead to establish St. Pete to Tampa service during the tourist season. They have set aside $350,000 of BP spill funds to match it. It's a great use of BP funds, which are supposed to compensate for economic harm in our region resulting from the BP spill. So we could see seasonal ferry service running on weekends and evenings starting in 11 months and while the National NCAA Football Championship is here. This could be a big boost to getting the MacDill-South County commuter back in the fast lane. Many thanks to Mayor Kriseman and the St. Petersburg City Council for their unanimous support for this bold move! here

Ferry Linking Tampa And St. Pete

A commuter ferry service may be still years away but weekend ferry rides across Tampa Bay could be running in as little as a year through a pilot program pushed by St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman. He plans to pitch the idea to Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn at a meeting next week. (Good luck with that!) He said he has no qualms about working with Turanchik, whose failed attempts to bring the 2012 Olympics and commuter rail to Tampa have led some to dub him a dreamer. here

Pat Kemp: Time for a Tampa Bay High Speed Ferry!

"As a Hillsborough County Commissioner, I will get the Tampa Bay High Speed Ferry Project done without any more delay. This is a "no-brainer" and I'm embarrassed for our county and our region that isn't underway now."

Fire Mike Merrill

All he does is spread lies.

“We spent all this time and the community has said doing roads, bridges and intersections are a top priority."
Check chart above, this is not true.
Now he wants to tie the ferry sevice to the tax.

Mass Transit wasn't even on the survey.

St. Pete looking for place to dock Bay ferry

The Kriseman Administration
is working to get St. Pete on board with the new
Turanchik Bay Ferry
the passenger ferry service based in Hillsborough County.
The proposed service would be focused on carrying servicemen and women and civilian employees between south Hillsborough and MacDill Air Force base. But outside of rush-hour travel, ferries will be used to carry residents and tourists between the downtowns of Tampa and St. Petersburg. more>
