The Ashley East in West Tampa

Today, the Tampa CRA Board unanimously approved $9.7M for the Ashley East Development Project along E. Columbus Drive in the East Tampa CRA. All 118 units will be designated as affordable, serving residents in 80% AMI & below (For a family of 4, that is an income of $83,450 & below). more

Stogie Athlete Of The Week: Jordan Zade, Tampa Bay Sun FC #37


Jordan is a graduating player out of the University of Nebraska. In her four years with the Cornhuskers, Jordan made 74 appearances and had 21 goal contributions as a defender. At just 21-years-old, Jordan is a top collegiate player. Jordan signed her first professional contract with Tampa Bay Sun FC in the USL Super League.

Tampa Bay’s Refugee and Migrant Women Initiative deepens the meaning of community

Florence Ackey sees immigration in a very simple way: The eggplant theory. “A vegetable I rarely used, but after meeting women from Syria, Somalia and even Ukraine, I now have seven different ways to eat an eggplant,” Ackey told CL. “Same eggplant, but I opened my mind instead of thinking that they would just eat all my eggplant.”

“When you don’t understand them and you allow those misconceptions to dictate policy, it becomes a dangerous thing. I always say, we are afraid of what we don’t know,” Ackey said. “I see all these immigration policies, all saying ‘just send them back’.”
