Few Americans use ‘woke’ terminology: Survey

Few Americans use terminology that is commonly deemed as “woke,” according to a new survey.

In the YouGov survey, under a quarter of Americans polled said they “regularly use” words and phrases such as “safe space,” “woke,” ‘lived experience” and “white privilege.” The phrases are commonly used in progressive, left-leaning and social justice-oriented spaces.

Federal Court Rejects Florida Gov. DeSantis’ “Stop WOKE” Restrictions

A federal appeals court Monday rejected restrictions that Gov. Ron DeSantis and Republican lawmakers placed on addressing race-related issues in workplace training — part of a controversial 2022 law that DeSantis dubbed the “Stop WOKE Act” (HB7).

A three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the restrictions violated First Amendment rights.

Florida’s ‘Stop WOKE’ restricts businesses from training on some race-related issues; a court will hear a challenge

A federal appeals court this week will hear arguments in a fight about a 2022 Florida law that placed restrictions on how race-related issues can be addressed in workplace training — part of what Gov. Ron DeSantis dubbed the “Stop WOKE Act.”

Attorneys for the state want the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn a preliminary injunction that Chief U.S. District Judge Mark Walker issued last year to block the workplace-training part of the law. Walker agreed with businesses and a consultant that the restrictions violated the First Amendment.

NAACP rolling protest urges Florida voters to 'stay woke'

A multi-city protest is rolling through Florida this week, urging voters to “stay woke” in the face of new laws signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

A bus adorned with a bold-faced “vote” and the face of late civil rights icon John Lewis rolled through East Tampa Tuesday night, one of 15 stops the NAACP and Transformative Justice Coalition’s “Stay Woke, Vote” protest on wheels will make this week.
