THE PAYDAY LENDING INDUSTRY HAS BOUGHT FLORIDA’S POLITICAL ESTABLISHMENT
Of the $2,556,457 given to Florida politicians and political parties by payday lenders since 2009, more than one-third of the money ($970,050) came from members of the Florida-based MacKechnie family and their payday lending company, Amscot Financial. Amscot was founded in 1986 to provide borrowers a bank-like alternative to a liquor store or pawn shop, said company founder
Ian MacKechnie.
The company has 239 locations across Florida, focusing in areas where banking options are slim. In 1998 Amscot Financial plead guilty to civil racketeering charges and as part of the plea agreement stemming from these charges, the company’s founder, Ian MacKechnie, Sr., was banned for life from selling auto insurance in Florida.

Wanted: Better Choices for Tampa Mayor
I feel like Commissioner Gordon who resorts to sending up the bat signal in times of distress.
And I’ve got plenty of company.
The six candidates who have declared to run in 2019 for mayor of Tampa just cannot be the best a city of 385,000 has to offer. I have resided in Orlando, Tallahassee, and Sarasota. Frankly, the Tampa slate’s lack of quality is quite shocking. more

More Jane Castor Disaster: Her Racist Policies
Attorneys knowledgable with civil rights law assert that Jane Castor’s admission of racial profiling under her regime as Tampa’s police chief opens up the city to a bevy of lawsuits.
Damages could run into the millions if every victim of Castor’s “biking while black” targeting comes forward and becomes a party to legal action.

Exposing Local Phonies
I have been reading a lot on Facebook about how much people care about ICE locking up children in cages. Image above was taken in front of the ICE office in
Ybor City in protest of those practices.

Gio Rice Of Bay City Tattoos In Ybor City
Apparently Bay City Tattoos in Ybor employs an individual who thinks migrants and refugees getting assaulted, traumatized and murdered by US Border Patrol is totally fine, having made the below post in the Vigil For Victims Killed By Border Patrol event. Would be a real shame, I guess, if Geo Rice's employer were made aware of their despicable racist views, and/or if folks decided to boycott the place...
