Annual back-to-school bash kicks off today in Tampa
WWE Global Ambassador Titus O'Neil and his Bullard Foundation plan to give away 30,000 backpacks of supplies to school-age children.
In partnership with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the event will give away more than 30,000 backpacks that contain school supplies such as writing utensils, notebooks, folders and more.
AdventHealth will also provide physicals to pre-registered families at the event, and the Glazer Family Foundation will offer eye exams and eyeglasses.

Florida Democrats are embarking on a tour aimed at slowing the Republican Party of Florida’s expanding voter-registration advantage.
The “Take Back Florida” tour is part of a $1 million push to increase voter registration and raise awareness of re-enrollment requirements to vote by mail and ballot petitions.

August 9: National Day of Protest to Drop the Charges on Tampa 5!
On August 9, the Emergency Committee to Defend the Tampa 5 is calling on all member groups to declare a National Day of Protest! On July 12, we saw at least 15 cities pour out into the streets to say, "Drop the charges!"
We need to be out again on August 9 in even greater numbers. We need to demand that the DeSantis-appointed, unelected State Attorney Susan Lopez and Assistant Prosecutor Justin Diaz drop the charges.

Florida schools OK use of curriculum by PragerU, an unaccredited right-wing nonprofit
The Florida Board of Education has approved the use of “supplemental curriculum” created by PragerU, an unaccredited right-wing advocacy group that seeks to offer an alternative to “dominant left-wing ideologies,” in classrooms days after the state Department of Education approved new, controversial academic standards for Black history curriculum.
Many of their most popular videos tackle controversial topics. The five videos showcased under the “Most Popular 5-Minute Videos” tag include “Do You Understand the Electoral College”, “Was the Civil War About Slavery”, “The Inconvenient Truth About the Democratic Party”, “Why I Left the Left” and “War on Boys”.
