Ron DeSantis says men with Nazi flags were ‘not true supporters’
During a televised Ron DeSantis town hall in New Hampshire, the problem of displays of Nazi iconography in Florida proved to be a topic of interest beyond the state’s borders.
Asked about people who purported to be supporters of his who had “flags that said DeSantis 2024” and “Nazi, swastika flags,” DeSantis said he didn’t “think that they are” his supporters, before suggesting that the display was part of an “operation” against him.

FloridaCommerce plans for nearly $1 billion grant for Hurricane Ian relief
Hurricane Ian made landfall last September and devastated parts of Florida. FloridaCommerce held a public hearing Friday at the University of South Florida about federal recovery funding.
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development announced Florida would receive 910 million dollars in funding. The funding goes towards 20 counties in Florida, including Hillsborough and Pinellas.

We’re living through a dark chapter in American history, according to Democratic congress member Kathy Castor, who was reacting to the former president being indicted on criminal charges.
“And that’s what struck me reading through the indictment. Last night, the depth, and breadth, the times he was told that “No, there were no election irregularities,” but he kept pressing kept spreading, kept spreading lies. But it also gives me hope, because there were brave Republicans who stood in the breach and push back in Arizona, in Georgia, Vice President Pence, who said no, we’re not going to overturn the US Constitution.”

Hillsborough and Pinellas schools will not be using new PragerU Kids materials for upcoming academic year

Last week, Florida's Department of Education announced the approval of “supplemental teaching materials" from PragerU, an unaccredited, far-right institution with a history of "downplaying systemic racism and promoting anti-immigrant theories."
However, a spokesperson for Hillsborough County Public Schools told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that PragerU Kids will not be in classrooms this fall. "It is not part of any of our curriculum nor does the district have any plans to purchase it," said HCPS Chief of Communications Tanya Arja in an email.
Pinellas County Schools also won't use PragerU in the 2023-24 academic year.

Tampa leaders revamp a housing hotline to help renters
The city of Tampa announced a new service on Tuesday that's dedicated to connecting renters with resources amid the ongoing housing affordability crisis. The Tenant Services Team, the newest branch of the city's housing and community development department, is primarily tasked with absorbing a housing hotline that was launched last summer.
Renters can reach the Tenant Services Team from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. The number to call is (813) 307-5555.

Additionally, Charlie Kirk announced dozens of new high school and college field organizers are being trained for his Turning Point USA organization to spread propaganda in high schools and colleges across the country.
