Pam Bondi pauses funding to sanctuary cities, including NYC
FLOOD THE ZONE WITH PEOPLE
What authoritarian regimes often do is ‘flood the zone,’ or do so much at once that you feel paralyzed. It's important to understand that the shock you feel right now is the point, Glen.
We can flood the zone with people.
The Trump administration is currently trying to get their nominees approved. No Democrat should be voting to advance Trump's nominees while this is going on.
There has to be a political price to pay. We have a responsibility as a party to block everything while they're setting a literal match to the federal government. And we need to be a pain in the ass.
Do not assume that your Senator is not going to vote for these nominees, if you are a person that has a Democratic Senator. Give them a call. Keep calling.
Tell them, “I do not want you to vote to advance or approve any of these nominees while all this stuff is going on.”
In the House, Republican members that are in districts that Biden carried in 2020 do care what you think and how pissed off you are.
These are things that they can lose elections over. If we start sending the message that they can now, then we can start getting some traction.
If you have a Republican representative, you should be making a phone call. They need to know you are paying attention. They need to know that you are pissed off. If they don't think that you're pissed off, they're going to go faster.
If you think government is like a George Foreman grill, and you can just set it and forget it — I regret to inform you that is not how participatory democracy works.
We have to lock in, and start getting people quaking in their electoral boots.
Even if your call makes them think twice, it is effective. Use our leverage. Make them fight for every single step.
The slower they go, the less they can break.
In this house, we jiggle every door handle to find an opportunity. You have got to try a hundred times, sometimes, to make one work. It's worth it.
In solidarity,
Alexandria

New Florida housing bill to target out of state housing investors
A newly filed House Bill 401 in the Florida State Legislature is taking aim to protect Florida’s housing market from multi-national investment companies buying up entire neighborhoods or huge swaths of homes to convert them in to permanent rental properties.
Florida has see at least two major single-family home price spikes in the past two-decades, in some cases double and even tripling the cost to buy a new home.
The National Rental Home Council is firing back against the new House Bill, saying it restricts who can rent homes in certain communities, and would take away hosing choices for Floridians. Primarily, though, the National Rental Home Council opposes the proposed bill because it would limit the huge profits made by owners, builders, operators, capital providers, vendors, manufacturers, professional service firms and business partners who are the members of the NRHC.

Trump administration is gaming Google to create a mirage of mass deportations
The U.S. has seen high-profile immigration raids since Trump took office, but Dara Kerr of The Guardian today reported that the Trump administration “is gaming Google to create a mirage of mass deportations.” On January 24, 2025, old online press releases from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from as much as a decade ago were updated to make Google prioritize them as new releases, thus creating the illusion that raids are taking place all over the country. When The Guardian asked ICE and Google about the changed dates, some of the new dates disappeared, dropping those stories out of the top of search results.....MORE

America knew Trump was a snake before we took him back in
“They are who we thought they were,” NFL coach Dennis Green famously said, in full meltdown mode. But his words could just as easily apply to President Trump, Elon Musk and the parade of Republicans who have unleashed so much chaos these last few weeks.
If you’re watching Musk gut USAID like it’s a Black Friday sale, or Trump going full Bond villain on Gen. Mark Milley, or appointing white supremacists like he’s assembling an evil Justice League — I get it. I do. But don’t act surprised.

Trump and Netanyahu hold talks as US president warns ‘no guarantees’ fragile peace in Gaza will hold
President Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu are set to meet Tuesday as the Israeli prime minister faces competing pressure from his right-wing coalition to end a temporary truce against Hamas militants in Gaza and from war-weary Israelis who want the remaining hostages home and the 15-month conflict to end.
Trump is guarded about the long-term prospects for the truce, even as he takes credit for pressuring Hamas and Israel into the hostage and ceasefire agreement that went into effect the day before he returned to office last month.
