The Rhetoric Of Violence And Its Consequences

In the last few years there have been a series of violent events by unhinged characters inspired by the paranoia-fueled speech of right-wing leaders. Since each of these incidents is seen as an isolated example of a lone nut, no one has put these events together to see
how prevalent these sorts of attacks have become.

Apalachicola Bay Oysters

Let me start by saying i love Apalachicola Bay, it's a beautiful place and i love oysters, raw please. Recently my conservative friend and i were out having a few Yuenglings. My friend ordered a doz. Apalachicola Bay Oysters. I informed him about the dangers of eating oysters from that area. Most people know oysters are Filter Feeders (Animals that feed by straining suspended matter and food particles from water, typically by passing the water over a specialized filtering structure.)

With all the oil and chemicals in gulf waters right now i did not think it was a very good idea. Well he ridiculed my advise and ate them anyway. To his health!

City Of Tampa Code Chapter 26-169

Placement Of Containers
A week ago tomorrow a nice gentleman from the city driving a Ford Escape visted Stogie's resident. He was handed pamphlet above and was told that he was in violation of City Of Tampa Code Chapter 26-169. He informed the gentleman that Stogie's trash days were mondays and thursdays and here it was wednesday and the trash can was still there. The trash was not picked up on monday. I don't want to be an eyesore to my community, but the city needs to get it's shit together and stop wasting our money.

Press Gets An A++” For Being So Obedient

Rick Scott met with the Capitol press corps for the first time since his swearing-in on Tuesday and before the governor even reached the podium Scott’s spokesman laid out some new rules. Ed Turanchik's Platform

Rehab foreclosed homes. Hold the line on taxes, fees and cost-of-living raises for city employees. Deploy surveillance cameras in crime-ridden neighborhoods. These are policy planks in the mayoral campaign of former Hillsborough County commissioner and builder Ed Turanchik. He touts it as the most substantive yet offered by any of the six candidates for mayor.
here

Mr. Turanchik, everything sounds great, except the Big Brother in neighborhoods idea.

Republicans Actually Reading The Constitution

It will cost taxpayers over $1 million dollars for Republicans to recite the entire United States Constitution on the House floor.
_________________________

Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) said on Tuesday that his party plans to cut $100 billion in spending this year. GOP leadership has said cuts to the US defense budget are out of the question, making key safety-net programs like Medicare, food stamps and Social Security the sole target of their legislative agenda.
here

Yet.....According to a 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll released on Monday. Sixty-one percent of Americans polled would rather see taxes for the wealthy increased as a first step to tackling the deficit.
The next most popular way to tackling the deficit chosen by 20% was to cut defense spending.
Four percent would cut the Medicare government health insurance program for the elderly, and 3 percent would cut the Social Security retirement program.

We Are Not So Dumb After All

According to a 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll released on Monday.

Sixty-one percent of Americans polled would rather see taxes for the wealthy increased as a first step to tackling the deficit.

The next most popular way -- chosen by 20 percent -- was to cut defense spending.

Four percent would cut the Medicare government health insurance program for the elderly, and 3 percent would cut the Social Security retirement program.

Asked which part of the world they would fix first, the largest proportion of respondents -- 36 percent -- chose Washington, compared with 23 percent who picked the Middle East and 14 percent who chose Haiti.

Who the hell are the four percent that would cut Medicare for the elderly?

Kelly Benjamin Voices Support For Bicycling In Tampa

I grew up in Tampa risking my life riding my bike. I remember when HARTLINE first started the bikes on buses program and I eagerly waited in line to purchase my bike pass. During college, I mastered the art of defensive riding as I made the commute from my home in Ybor City to USF and back through suitcase city, Sulphur Springs, Seminole and Tampa Heights. I know bike riding in this city. I still ride my bike daily throughout the Heights.
