The People's Budget

Budget of the Congressional Progressive Caucus
The People's Budget would eliminate the deficit sooner than either the proposed Obama or Ryan Budgets and raise a $31 billion surplus in ten years. It would end the main budget deficit drivers - the Bush tax cuts and Middle East wars; restore progressive income and estate taxes; add negotiation of bulk drug rates to Medicare and preserve Medicare, Medicaid Social Security; eliminate tax subsidies for oil, gas and coal companies; close loopholes for multinational corporations; and tax speculative financial transactions. All are goals supported by the majority of people.

Investigate Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi

It's bad enough Gov. Rick Scott is hard at work dismantling key consumer protections, but now he has a partner: our own Attorney General Pam Bondi. She seems to think her first duty is to protect some of Gov. Scott’s biggest corporate pals – the banks – instead of hard working Floridians. Recently Bondi fired Florida’s two leading attorneys investigating the epidemic of foreclosure fraud ravaging our communities.

Sustainable Biodiesel Comes To Florida Keys

Jeff Lillie says it takes about 24 hours in about a 40-step process to turn used vegetable oil into eco-friendly biodiesel that can be used in boats and cars. At age 59, he says his motive is not to get rich but to do his part to help the environment, especially the ocean.

Feeding the Rich

A timely reminder, with numbers and visuals, that our current "debt crisis" in no way had to happen. If corporations and the rich simply paid taxes at the same rate as they did in 1961 - with Bush-era policies primarily to blame for their decline - the debt would vanish.

Allen West thanked a gathering of Republican faithful for turning out in force to see him. He was given a super hero's welcome at the Florida Strawberry Festival grounds. D3 Homeless Initiative

New Blogger Helping The Homeless.

I'm Deputy Steven Donaldson with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office here in Tampa, Florida. You may have heard of the homeless initiative I started just over a year ago which has recently received some media attention. We have been successful in assisting 55 homeless with housing in a years time and the effort has expanded throughout the county in three of our four districts, thus far.

I recently started a blog, D3HomelessInitiative, to promote the effort and broadcast the effort's productive results in the form of pictorials and written essays of individual stories. The Sheriff's Office has embraced the concept since it seems to have had both a quantitative and qualitative impact on the streets within our jurisdictional boundaries.

The Sheriff' Office has allowed me to work on this effort full-time and we also have two additional deputies dedicated to this cause, one each, in District I (University area) and District II (Brandon area). I work in District III (Town N' Country, Carrollwood) where the effort originated.

Thank you for your help.
