Stogie - The 25th Infantry was also the source of the only bicycle platoon in the US Army. A young lieutenant, James Moss, formed a detachment of soldiers, equipped them with bicycles, and traveled from Ft Missoula MT to St. Louis MO in 1896, with 40 days of riding. See Iron Riders, G.N. Sorensen, Pictorial Histories Publishing, Missoula MT 2000. Despite this success, the army did not pursue use of bicycles in war.

How do you keep a people down? ‘Never' let them 'know' their history.
The 7th Cavalry got their butts in a sling again after the Little Big Horn Massacre, fourteen years later, the day after the Wounded Knee Massacre. If it wasn't for the 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers, there would of been a second massacre of the 7th Cavalry.
