"Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, the Hillsborough County LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus honors the transgender lives lost to violence and hatred. Each loss is a heartbreaking reminder of the work still ahead to create a world where everyone can live freely, authentically, and safely!
As we reflect, we also prepare for the challenges to come! The transgender community will undoubtedly face direct attacks from the new Republican administration, with their plans to restrict access to healthcare, target trans youth, and undermine the basic rights of individuals to live openly! These policies are rooted in fear, hatred, and discrimination, but we must remain steadfast in our fight for justice and equality!
We are a community of resilience, strength, and unwavering courage! Together, we will honor those we’ve lost by fighting for a future where every trans person is safe, celebrated, and free to thrive!
