A key issue to consider in the media ownership debate is the current situation that local broadcasters face. I do some consulting with the NAB on this issue and we are urging on behalf of these broadcasters that the FCC modernize the ownership rules to reflect the current media marketplace.

Faced with ever-expanding competition from cable, satellite and online media outlets, individual local broadcasters cannot compete for the advertising revenue they rely on and that enables them to provide free programming. All that broadcasters are seeking is for these arcane rules to be updated so that they may fairly compete.
