Overt Fascism And The Fall of Libertarianism

One of the most revealing aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic is the obvious role of government to rescue capitalism and the Corporate State in the U.S. During the presidential election of 2008 which ultimately resulted in Barack Obama as our nation's 44th President, we also witnessed the rise of the pseudo economic system  " Libertarianism" by congressman and Presidential candidate Ron Paul. For Progressives, Socialist, and good government groups, it didn't require much critical thinking to know that a society run by libertarians was a ridiculous notion and was really a Trojan Horse being disseminated by the Charles and David Koch Network to implement a corporate state. Now that the COVID pandemic has made a mockery of this quack economic system, the Koch Network, which pretty much controls the Republican Party today, has a new tactic in the age of social media by rallying online far-right and  militia groups to State Capitals to protest laws that might be a threat to the Koch Network's ongoing effort to control the American economy. The reality that Democrats, Democratic Socialist, and  Good Goverment orgs. must acknowledge going forward if Democrats start to win back more State Houses is that the Koch Network will continue to message far-right groups via social media to protest, with violence if necessary, any legislative efforts that might re-institute a purely public and comprehensive approach to governance. As witnessed at State Houses around the country, American fascism has arrived and those of us on the left must continue to organize and educate the voting public on how the Federal Government can use it's power to help ordinary citizens and not just corporations and small businesses . As COVID-19 has shown, the Federal Government can to anything as long as there is the political will to do it. It's time the U.S. Government started using its power to help ordinary people not just the politically-connected elite and their industries. But first, like in the 2nd World War, we must defeat fascist. This time  it's not European fascism, but fascism from the Koch Network and the NRA and  their social media shock troops.
