Enjoy Ybor and it's chickens while you can. Darryl Shaw and his corrupt cohorts are still moving along with their plans to gentrify Ybor City. The plan was, and still is, to build the baseball stadium you were all fooled into believing would never happen (my tombstone is going to read "I told you so") and to redevelop everything south of 7th Avenue to Adamo Drive into luxury high rise offices, retail spaces, entertainment venues, condominiums and apartments, all beginning with replacing the recently vacated Tampa Park Apartments, a low rent complex at the west end of 7th Avenue, with Gas Worx, a modern, high cost development with 500,000 square feet of office space, 150,000 square feet of retail and a cluster of high-rise condos and apartments. When as much money as has been invested as has been been in gentrifying Ybor City, there is no way to stop it. Some of the bad actors in this scheme will be, and have been, called out and some may even be convicted of crimes (there is a continuing FBI investigation into the corruption here) but the money has been put in place and the evil deed will be done.
