Tampa Candidate's Photo Cuts Buckhorn From His Own Portrait

It looks that way, say five  photography  experts who examined both photos.
Mayor Bob is not happy. Toledo's photo could mislead voters into thinking she has an endorsement he hasn't given.
"I knew I would be a lame duck someday, but I didn't think people would be Photoshopping me out of my own picture," he said. here

Tampa's 50-Foot Rule

No not lap dances, car stereos

Tampa City Council gave its preliminary approval to an ordinance Thursday that would make it illegal for drivers to blast their car stereos. The proposal would allow police to ticket drivers if their music can be heard from at least 50 feet away and would include possible jail time for a third offense.

Jail time for playing your stereo too loud? I like this idea better.
Council member Lisa Montelione cast the only vote against the ordinance. She said she supported it, but objected to incarcerating repeat offenders. "Jail time is going to put a lot of young people behind bars who are going to get records and who are not going to be able to get jobs," she said.Better, Montelione said, would be to impound the cars of the offenders.But she was alone on that. "The only way this ordinance is going to work is if the penalties attached to it are steep enough to keep people from repeatedly violating it," council member Harry Cohen said.

The Soho Saloon In Tampa

Our Backwards City Council At It Again

 The Soho Saloon is suing the city of Tampa over a City Council vote to deny it a permit to pour mixed drinks along with beer and wine. City Council member Mary Mulhern moved for denial based on the saloon's request to the city to waive three rules:
One requires 35 parking spaces, not the 16 the bar has. If this was the case in cities like New Orleans, Menphis or our own Ybor City then none of them would serve alcohol. What does she want a chain to come and pave half a city block for parking and take all the charm out of the area. Arn't they always telling us not to drink and drive? There are always plenty of cabs around and HART #4 comes right by this place.   Another requires a city waiver when there are residences within 1,000 feet (the closest home is 33 feet away). The third requires a similar waiver when there are other stores, restaurants or bars selling alcohol within 1,000 feet (there are 17).  The saloon is surrounded by bars, including MacDinton's Irish Pub across the street. Why is ok for them but not this place?

Tampa City Council Approves Red Light Cameras

Harry Cohan, Mary Mulhern, Lisa Montelione and Mike Suarez supported installing the cameras. Voting no were council members Yvonne Yolie Capin and Frank Reddick, and council Chairman Charlie Miranda.
