Only Pat Kemp Concerned About Shit Dumping

Chris’s Plumbing has requested permits to dump SHIT from septic tanks and portable bathrooms onto an 80-acre tract of land south of State Road 64, just off of Grange Hall Loop Road. The property is adjacent to a creek that runs into the Little Manatee River.
----------
Kent Bailey, with the Sierra Club, is concerned the permit
is even being considered by the county.
----------
Bailey said in Hillsborough County, there are four waste water treatment plants that can process the sludge Chris’s Plumbing is seeking to dump on the land. The waste water treatment plants would cost the business more than the land dumping.
“There is no reason for this to go forward, other than as a profit making venture,”
Sandy Murman,  Victor Crist and Ken Hagan

Dems Join Florida Frackers

The Florida Senate gave preliminary approval Friday to a bill sought by Florida Power & Light to allow the company to charge customers for investments in natural gas fracking operations in other states.
------------------------------------
Supporters of the bill
Democratic Leader Oscar Braynon of Miami and incoming Senate Democratic Leader Jeff Clemens of Lake Worth.
Other Dems voting for the bill in committee with Braynon and Clemens were Sens. Lauren Book of Plantation, Perry Thurston of Fort Lauderdale, and Bill Montford of Tallahassee. here

Florida GOP Hypocrites

They are poised to pass a bill that would make it absurdly difficult for patients to get access to medical marijuana just days after making it easier for alcoholics to buy their hooch. here

Hillsborough County Right Wing Infestation

Florida GOP County Commissioner Sandy Murman says she is "probably" going to leave her district seat to run for a countywide seat in 2018. Murman faces a 2020 term limit. Jumping to a countywide seat would restart her term limit clock. here
-----------------
DEMS BEWARE
Florida GOP Victor Crist and Ken Hagan could also be seeking new seats that would enable them to avoid term limits.

Big Majorities In Miami

The overwhelming majority of Miami-Dade voters don't see illegal immigration as much of a problem and generally think the government should be worrying about other things, according to a new poll.
------------------
Big majorities — generally cutting across ethnic and political lines — agreed that undocumented immigrants don’t take jobs from American citizens, aren’t any more likely to commit crimes than anybody else, and “contribute to American society.

Florida INC. Workers' Compensation Policy

Florida is already one of the hardest states for workers seeking treatment or lost wages when injured on the job. Now lawmakers are trying again to make it more difficult for employees to sue when they have wrongly been denied workers' compensation. Senate bills would impose new caps on workers' attorney fees in such disputes, which critics say will discourage lawyers from taking cases. here
------------
Backers don't entirely deny the charge.
"What we're trying to do is reduce attorney involvement in the system," said Rep. Danny Burgess, a Zephyrhills Republican leading the House legislation.

IE: On Oct. 14, 2016, the Nevada state legislature approved the largest taxpayer subsidy in American sports history. As long as the NFL allowed the Oakland Raiders to move to Las Vegas, taxpayers would fork over $750 million to help fund a new $1.9 billion stadium adjacent to the Vegas strip. here

Florida GOP Next Scheme

It's called Project Majority Red
They hope to wipe out as much Democratic blue in the state as they can by winning the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Bill Nelson. The GOP also wants the next governor to be Republican.
-----------------------------
They're hoping letters will be the key to winning those seats.
“There’s a third of the voters in Florida, or 30 percent, have gone NPA, so it's a big segment and growing,” said Rep. Francis Rooney of Naples.
Rooney believes it's important to win over those voters. here

A federal judge cleared the way for a Texas company to expand oil exploration in the Big Cypress National Preserve. The destruction has already begun. They’re cutting down trees and creating ruts. of the preserve. here

Florida Voters Taking It Deep

Florida voters who heartily approved important amendments to the state Constitution can only wonder how the will of the people is being strangled by the obstructionist toils of the Republican-led Legislature. here
-----
Amendment to expand access to medical marijuana, approved last November by 71 percent of the voters, Republican lawmakers are proposing tighter rules on doctors’ prescriptions, as well as other obstacles for patients who want to use medical marijuana.
-----
Amendment to expand the use of solar power, which drew 73 percent approval last year, has been met by a raft of obstructionist proposals that would bog down rooftop solar installation. They include rules language drafted by the state’s major utility, Florida Power & Light.

Chris’s Plumbing Wants To Dump Shit In Our Water

Chris’s Plumbing Service is asking the County to let them dump human excrement, commercial sludge, and restaurant grease on the banks of the Little Manatee River’s wetlands. This toxic waste will obviously end up in the river — and from there it will flow into Tampa Bay. here
