RIP Robin Williams

RIP Robin Williams
 July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014
Robin Williams was an airman, a doctor, a genie, a nanny, a president, a professor, a bangarang Peter Pan, and everything in between. But he was one of a kind. He arrived in our lives as an alien – but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit. He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most – from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalized on our own streets. Barack Obama

The Queen of Versailles

"The Queen of Versailles" was a film documentary based on the sleazy time-share mogul, David Siegel, and his wife, Jackie.  David had major financial troubles following Bush's 2008 economic crises.  He even had to stop work on his private home, dubbed "Versailles", which was to be the largest home in the U.S.  Poor guy. Naturally, Obama was to blame for this.  As you may recall during the peak of the presidential campaign, Mr. Siegel penned a letter threatening to fire all his employees and close down his Orlando-based company, Westgate,
if Obama was elected. here

Pathetic New Hope Missionary Baptist Church In Tampa

I can't remember the last time I've felt so ill reading a news story. This church, its pastor and its parishioners should be ashamed. I hope they never hear the end of it. Sweet Polly

Florida Call For An Investigation Into The King Ranch Scandal

Gov. Scott and his legislative allies have allowed sugar industry polluters to foul the Everglades and stick taxpayers with the tab to clean up their mess.
Is it a mere coincidence they've done this while accepting expensive hunting trips to the exclusive King Ranch in Texas on Big Sugar’s dime? It’s time for Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to quit her partisan antics and get to the bottom of the King Ranch political scandal that has engulfed Gov. Rick Scott and the Republican Party. here

Florida's Culture Of Corruption "Fountain"

Investigate the 2012 death of Mr. Darren Rainey

On June 23, 2012 Darren Rainey, a 50-year-old mentally ill state prison inmate in Miami-Dade County, died after guards responded to his defecating in his cell by locking him into a 180-degree shower for two hours—at which point his skin was separating from his body.
Local police, and the state, failed to properly investigate. The case was only brought to light in recent months by The Miami Herald. After two years, no one has been held criminally accountable, or even charged.

"He was crying, please stop, please stop, And they
just said "Enjoy your shower, and left."

Only the U.S. Department of Justice can properly investigate this terrible crime, and a broader culture of abuse in Florida’s prisons that has led to other unnecessary deaths, and which falls especially hard on the mentally ill. here

Tampa Bay—21 Years Ago this Month

On August 10, 1993, three vessels, the freighter Balsa 37, the barge Ocean 255, and the barge Bouchard 155, collided near the entrance of Tampa Bay. Over 32,000 gallons of jet fuel, diesel, and gasoline and about 330,000 gallons of heavy fuel oil spilled from the barges. Despite emergency cleanup efforts, the oil fouled 13 miles of beaches and caused injury to birds, sea turtles, mangrove habitat, seagrasses, salt marshes, shellfish beds,  as well as closing many of the waterways to fishing and boating. here

More Florida GOP BS

Rick Scott has tirelessly touted the evils of the ACA. After it was projected that premiums in the state could go up by 13.2 percent for the 2015 enrollment year, Scott said in a statement that
“Obamacare is a bad law that just seems to be getting worse,” and “Florida families are going to be slammed with higher costs. Obamacare has failed to live up to its promises in nearly every way.”
Scott didn’t bring up that he and his Republican-controlled legislature have done everything they can to make sure that the ACA fails in Florida. here
