Juked Statistics In St. Pete

I've seen it suggested that St. Petersburg crime statistics are manipulated or "juked." I don't know what "juked" numbers are, but the simple fact is that crime is down in St. Petersburg in large part because the community is
re-engaged. Benjamin Kirby

Susan Smith: What the f*ck is going on?

"A mentally ill 19-year-old is shot and killed by the police because he has a baseball bat. A 55-year-old grandmother is also killed in the process when police shoot through her door. What the f*ck is going on? Is it open season on blacks, or are the police just so badly trained that this is the only way they know how to react?"

Fishy Odor In Pinellas Park

This past October, Detective Chris Ryan was conducting a
random narcotics interdiction”
at a Pinellas Park FedEx
when he was given a package
that a driver said smelled like marijuana.
Inside the package there was $8,320 in cash. A drug-sniffing dog  identified a “narcotic odor” coming from the cash. Now, having filed a complaint for forfeiture, the PPPD is seeking permission to
keep and use the cash. here

Kentucky Takes It Deep

Matt Bevin is a Tea Party Republican
who took office less than a month ago
from former Democratic Governor Steve Beshear.
While in office, Gov. Beshear restored voting rights to 140,000 former felons that have served their sentences. Now Gov. Bevin has reversed this. He also reversed former Gov. Beshear’s executive order that raised the minimum wage for state government workers and contractors
to $10.10 an hour. here

To the GOP voters of the great Commonwealth of Kentucky, take it deep!
Here in Florida we offer GOP voters free lube.
It makes the experience more memorable!

Hope In Humanity @ USF

The Tampa Bay
Street Medicine Team
For a year and a half, about a dozen students from the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine have met biweekly on a graffiti-covered parking lot at Franklin and Estelle streets before fanning out to deliver free medical care to the homeless.
The Tampa Bay Street Medicine Team,
modeled after groups across the country, brings a supervising volunteer physician, physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner from the college to help in extreme cases, but the rest is left to the students. here

After 50 Years Miami Cubans Finally Figure It Out

Earlier this month, nearly a year to the day President Barack Obama shocked Cuban Americans with the news that the U.S. would reestablish relations with the Castro regime
----------
A group of Cuban-American business people, almost all from Miami, quietly traveled to the island to see for themselves what, if anything, had changed. Most of the 10 men — even a couple of otherwise  staunch conservatives — returned convinced
that stronger ties to the U.S. would help Cubans. here

Rick Scott's Florida Criminal Justice System

As other states reformed their criminal justice systems in the past year to reduce their prison populations by updating their sentencing laws and establishing new programs for the re-entry of offenders, Florida remained on the sidelines, according to a new report from the bipartisan U.S. Justice Action Network. here
