Alan Grayson: Justice For Andrew Joseph III

In February of 2014, 14-year-old Andrew Joseph III from Riverview was killed as he tired to cross Interstate 4 on foot after he was ejected from the Florida State Fair
 in Tampa.
Alan Grayson met with Andrew’s parents  in Tampa and said he would pursue the Justice Department to investigate the tragic loss of life. On Thursday, Grayson followed up on his promise, penning a letter to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch calling for both
a Justice and FBI investigation. here
----------
Grayson notes that this is the same Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office that provided security for the 2012 Republican National Convention and the 2009 Super Bowl. “It seems unfortunate that the same force could not provide adequate security for ‘Student Day. “I’m going to be honest with you – the idea of taking a 14-year-old boy, dropping him off out of a car from where he was, with no practical way to get back in touch with people, to get to any place of safety, seems like inappropriate conduct,” Grayson told reporters inside the Bricks of Ybor.

Tampa Bay Buy The Damn Trains

The CSX presentation in September has fired up rail proponents, who see a gift-wrapped system that could move people from downtown Tampa through downtown Clearwater into downtown St. Petersburg, north through Pasco County as far as Brooksville in Hernando, with connections to the University of South Florida and Tampa International Airport. here

So what's the hold up?
"Without a better transportation system, tourism in the Tampa area is likely to shrink from its current record levels and the region will lose its capacity to draw businesses to the urban core, according to two groups that promote economic development." Visit Tampa Bay and the Tampa Downtown Partnership. Maybe we need Jan Platt's solution!

Andrew Joseph Foundation

"While the rest of the world engages in celebratory interactions, we continue to stand at the threshold of the unknown. We stand within a story of a little boy who was killed when he engaged in a school sponsored fair day and suffered a tragic death. Andrew Joseph, III will never see or celebrate days or seasons such as today. As parents to this child, before us lies a new year, and we are going forward to take possession of it. Who knows what we will find? What new experiences or changes will come our way? What new needs will arise? In spite of the uncertainty before us, we are fully engaged and committed to execute the plan for Justice and Accountability for our 14 year old son Andrew Joseph, III killed in Tampa, Florida on 2/7/14. From the beginning of the year to its end it will forever be our mission to improve the conditions of life for our children, no child should die a senseless death."

PETA recently conducted an investigation into Primate Products, Inc. (PPI), and an eyewitness observed that workers violently handled monkeys—terrorizing them—and systemically neglected them. The notorious Hendry County, Florida, primate dealer imports, warehouses, and sells monkeys destined for experiments. U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspectors confirmed PETA's findings, citing PPI for at least 25 violations of nine animal-welfare regulations.

How the GOP is killing Florida

Florida is disappearing. For those who think of the state only as a swampy backwater populated by alligators and meth heads, this may seem like a good thing. But it’s not a joke. the daily high-water mark in the Miami area has been racing up at the rate of almost an inch a year, nearly ten times the rate of average global sea-level rise. here
