In a move initiated by Commissioner Mariella Smith, the board walked back a vote at a workshop last Thursday approving a guiding document for creating “a balanced approach to community building.”

Alex Sink Gaslighting
The perennial loser and Florida DINO said Democrats would have won the governorship had they nominated former Representative Gwen Graham, who narrowly lost to Mr. Gillum in the primary. “What would they have pinned on her?” asked Ms. Sink, alluding to Mr. Gillum’s left-wing politics and to an F.B.I. investigation into potential corruption in public real estate development in Tallahassee under Mr. Gillum. Hillsborough Progressives Reject Janet Cruz
When the Democratic Progressive Caucus issued its endorsements this week, one prominent name was omitted: Janet Cruz.
---
Call it payback for the term-limited Cruz’ reprehensible power play last February when she muscled progressive Bob Buesing out of the race to challenge Republican
State Sen. Dana Young.
State Sen. Dana Young.
---
This most recent gut punch to the Cruz campaign culminates her fruitless quest to regain the trust of the Democratic Party’s progressive wing.
---
Priot to Cruz’ heavy handedness, Bob Buesing had already raised an ample war chest and hit the campaign trail, salivating over a promising rematch. Progressives were ignited.
---
Not any more. They have decided not to reward treachery.
---
At the outset of the Young-Cruz race it was considered by the Florida Democratic Party as a flippable seat. That possibility is now considered a long shot by most independent observers.

Florida DINO Nikki Fried
Endorsed by Alex Sink
---
Nikki Fried has long chosen to keep company with the rich and powerful over workers,” said Fred Frost, Florida campaign lead for the Communications Workers of America.
---
Fried has donated more than $6,800 to Republican candidates in the last 14 years, the majority coming in the past
three years.
---
At various points from 2012 to 2016, Fried was registered to lobby for HCA, the hospital chain formerly run by GOP Gov. Rick Scott that paid a $1.7 billion fine to settle Medicaid fraud allegations under his watch. more

Bob Buckhorn Beware Of Rick Scott Bearing Gifts
In recent weeks, Scott has sent a flurry of political presents Tampa’s way — revealing a private company’s interest in a high-speed rail link between Tampa and Orlando, allocating $2.7 million for the city’s fledgling street car system, and pushing personally to place an Ybor City census tract on the state’s list for a federal tax break that may help pay for a new Tampa Bay Rays ballpark.
-----
Plenty of Democrats are skeptical of Scott’s motives, including Hillsborough County Democratic Party chairwoman Ione Townsend.
-----
They see Scott’s largesse as a maneuver to cut the vote margins in November in a key Democratic stronghold. Scott is challenging Sen. Bill Nelson for his seat.
-----
"That’s probably the game plan, Hillary Clinton took Hillsborough by 41,000 votes. For a Republican to be making some political investments in our county? I’m sure it’s viewed by them as ‘we’ll reap some rewards down the road." Ione Townsend
