Hillsborough County Beware - Jim Norman Is Back

The strong conservative
says, he will file to run for a seat on the County Commission where he was a player for nearly two decades.
-----------
Some of Mr. Norman's Highlights
Joined the vote to ban county government from even acknowledging gay pride events. He said no to health benefits for unmarried couples including same-sex partners.
"I see this as (leading) to gay marriage next," Norman said in 2004. "This is not going to be San Francisco east."
----------
He angered black leaders with a proclamation honoring Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.
----------
He blasted Obamacare as "a socialism takeover."
----------
He hung out in Vegas with lobbyist who appeared frequently before the commission.
----------
A developer-friendly commissioner he was owned by Ralph Hughes owner of the Cast-Crete precast concrete business in Seffner. He pushed hard to rename the county's prestigious award for residents who show moral courage in standing up to government for his friend and benefactor.
"I found very quickly that Ralph expected something back from me if I was going to be one of his chosen candidates," Rose Ferlita
----------
"Payola"
La Gaceta
----------
"He won his race but did not fare well in public opinion. Public office is a public trust.Obviously, that didn't sink in to Jim Norman."
Jan Platt
----------
"He's been carrying the water for developers for all his 18 years on the commission. He's as much responsible for the condition Hillsborough County is in today — the transportation, the sprawl mess we're in."
Pat Kemp
----------
"Spare us. This clown is one of the reasons Hillsborough County moved backwards for years. Deny him the right to ever serve in public office again. Please." Susan Smith

Latino Right Wing Florida Blogger Javier Manjarres

Mexican-American Comedian George Lopez, performed this past  Saturday night in Phoenix, Arizona, leading  “the audience at the Phoenix Celebrity Theatre in a profanity-laced chat against” Donald Trump. here

Here is what Mr. Manjarres had to say:

"Just because Lopez is Latino, he does not represent every Latino from countries like Brazil, Colombian, Venezuela, or even Mexico. (You forgot Cuba) Hey George, not every Latino is Mexican, and many of these Latinos support what Donald Trump said."

Right Wing Propaganda In Florida Schools

An effort to require students in Florida public schools to watch a controversial documentary by conservative pundit Dinesh D'Souza gained ground this week with the support of a state House member. Rep. Neil Combee, a Lakeland Republican, filed a bill seeking to mandate that all eighth- and 11th-grade students view the film America: Imagine the World Without Her. His legislation is identical to a measure filed by Sen. Alan Hays in November. here

Right Wing Voter Intimidation In Pasco County

The mailers that showed up in a Wesley Chapel neighborhood this week implore voters not to throw away their vote and warn: “Your neighbors will know.” The message and the fliers listing voters' names, addresses and voting histories aren't sitting well with some voters. Mailers sent by the Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee also list neighbor names and voting history, telling voters: “Republicans must turn out in this election – too much is at stake not to.” here

Wesley Chapel resident Lisa Ciganek wasn't happy to see one of the brochures show up at her house.
“I think it's intimidation,” she said. “I think it's shameful.”

Pam Bondi Defends Gay Marriage Ban As Cities Fight Back

Florida GOP Danita Kilcullen: Whores Chasing Whores

Tea party activists sent out fliers and emails strongly criticizing
Broward County Commissioner
Chip LaMarca and School Board member
Heather Brinkworth, both Republicans,
for participating in a gay pride parade. Among other things, the fliers — which nobody in particular will take credit for
asked if it is "worth
selling your soul to the devil"
to get votes from gays.
Danita Kilcullen, a Republican committeewoman and co-founder of Tea Party
Fort Lauderdale, made things infinitely worse by sending out an email version, which began with the statement "whores chasing whores, if you will." Kilcullen said she wasn't responsible for the fliers,
but her email leaves little doubt she
embraces the sentiment. here
