Right Wing Fools

There is this Meme from Allen West being spread on Facebook about helping the Homeless Vets before we help the refugees. May we remind these morons that it is the GOP who has refuse to help the Vets. If they just took the time to Google it they would
find out for themselves.
"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

Rick Scott’s GOP Propaganda

His public relations event on Pine Island touting our “pristine waterways” was yet another feeble attempt to convince the public that he and his policies are making Florida a better place to live. The supporting cast of Representatives Matt Caldwell, whose legislation is frequently a gift to big sugar, and Ray Rodrigues now sponsoring legislation to remove home rule on oil and gas fracking were there singing the same tune.

Rick Scott: Mostly False

"We have the highest funding in (the) K-12 system in the history of the state."

The state's total education budget is at an all-time high of $19.7 billion. But enrollment is also higher than in years past. Per-pupil spending is still below historic dollar totals and remains far below equitable levels when adjusted for inflation. We rate the statement Mostly False.

Florida Right Wing Propaganda

The Florida agency tasked with investigating Planned Parenthood clinics found no evidence that they were mishandling fetal remains, but
Gov. Rick Scott's office altered
the agency's statements to remove language that exonerated Planned Parenthood, and added new language that made the organization look guilty of wrongdoing. Several media outlets unwittingly quoted the statements before the misleading edits were discovered. here

Was Gov. Rick Scott trying to embarrass Planned Parenthood when he ordered inspections at its Florida clinics? If so, his scheme backfired. here

Jeb Bush: Florida Right Wing Propaganda

the middle class."

Pathetic Journalist Adam Smith Of The Tampa Bay Times

Several weeks ago, a highly placed source within Patrick Murphy's campaign bragged that Chuck Schumer would drive Alan Grayson out of the Florida Senate primary by unleashing a barrage of opposition research about his business dealings. Schumer, easily the sleaziest Democrat in the Senate-- who is desperate to please Wall Street banksters by delivering the open Florida seat to Murphy-- twisted a perfectly innocent SEC filing into a smoking gun of corruption. He then hired Queen Helena's p.r. assistant to find a pathetic "journalist" willing to run it up the flag pole and get the tongues wagging. Schumer did well in planting his bullshit bombshell with lazy would-be muck-raker Adam Smith from the Tampa Bay Times, who was eager to make the story about himself. here

Florida United for Care 2016

With Tallahassee incapable (to date) of passing a truly comprehensive medical marijuana law, it is clearer than ever that it will be left to us to provide medical marijuana access to the hundreds of thousands of sick and suffering patients that need help.
So I want to be clear on one major difference between the 2014 and 2016 petitions:

In 2014, our opposition falsely claimed that people with nearly any condition ("headaches and hangnails" they liked to say) would be considered a qualifying patient. We never agreed with that misrepresentation - and neither did the Florida Supreme Court.

However, backed by an out-of-state billionaire, they convinced a lot of voters it was true.

In the 2016 petition, we simply clarified what the Supreme Court said and what our intent was: only people with serious, debilitating conditions would have access. As before, a doctor will be able to recommend marijuana for a patient, whether or not that patient's particular disease or condition is listed in the amendment language itself. We could not list every possible debilitating condition and didn't need to: It's not more limited or more restrictive. It's just clearer. The Legislature has proven itself unwilling to address what 24 other states have, so it's likely going to be back on the ballot - and this time we'll get the 60% we need to win.

Please help support our efforts by making a contribution, here: http://www.unitedforcare.org/contribute
If you've already contributed, please make sure you have signed the petition (here) and, please share this email with at least a few of your friends.

Right Wing Propaganda In Florida Schools

An effort to require students in Florida public schools to watch a controversial documentary by conservative pundit Dinesh D'Souza gained ground this week with the support of a state House member. Rep. Neil Combee, a Lakeland Republican, filed a bill seeking to mandate that all eighth- and 11th-grade students view the film America: Imagine the World Without Her. His legislation is identical to a measure filed by Sen. Alan Hays in November. here

Tampa Tribune Publishing Koch Brother Propaganda

The Wall Street Journal and other newspapers (Tampa Tribune) throughout the country are throwing their support behind the Koch brothers’ campaign against wind energy, publishing Op-Eds that blast federal wind credits without revealing the authors’ financial ties to the oil industry. here

GOP Propaganda>Guess What Americans Thought About Obama's Speech here

Fact>Poll: Americans Broadly Back Obama’s Immigration Executive Action

Voters overwhelmingly backed President Obama’s move: 67 percent viewed it favorably, while just 28 percent viewed it unfavorably. The support was fairly bipartisan, with 91 percent of Democrats, 67 percent of Independents, and 41 percent of Republicans viewing the executive action favorably. Among Tea Party Republicans, however, 64 percent opposed the policy while just 30 percent viewed it favorably. here

Right Wing Voter Intimidation In Pasco County

The mailers that showed up in a Wesley Chapel neighborhood this week implore voters not to throw away their vote and warn: “Your neighbors will know.” The message and the fliers listing voters' names, addresses and voting histories aren't sitting well with some voters. Mailers sent by the Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee also list neighbor names and voting history, telling voters: “Republicans must turn out in this election – too much is at stake not to.” here

Wesley Chapel resident Lisa Ciganek wasn't happy to see one of the brochures show up at her house.
“I think it's intimidation,” she said. “I think it's shameful.”

Florida Cops Rake in Cash Busting Marijuana

The most visible opponents of medical marijuana beyond the Drug Free Florida ads are the Florida Sheriffs Association, a law enforcement group run by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, who uses Reefer Madness-esque rhetoric to claim marijuana will ruin society. "I see the guy that's up all night with a baby that's screaming, so he smokes him a blunt and a half and he thinks that'll help and ends up bouncing the baby off the walls," Judd said at an anti-pot press conference earlier this summer.
Though recent evidence suggests that marijuana liberalization actually reduces violent crime, law enforcement has its own motives. In an investigation published last month in The Nation magazine, I noted that marijuana busts have become a huge revenue source for police, which influences their political opposition to drug reform. In Minnesota and other states, police lobbyists have privately told legislators that relaxing marijuana laws could cost them financially. here

A blunt and a half, bouncing babies off walls, Mr. Judd? You are a funny guy.

No On 2: Right Wing Propaganda

AD CLAIM
“It’s not about compassion; it just legalizes pot smoking.”
----------
VERDICT:  FALSE
Amendment 2 explicitly states:  “Nothing in this section authorizes the use of medical marijuana by anyone other than a qualifying patient.”  Moreover it states: "Nothing in this section shall affect laws relating to non-medical use, possession, production or sale of marijuana.”
----------
AD CLAIM
“…Not just for serious diseases…”
----------
VERDICT:  FALSE
In a ruling handed down on January 27th, 2014, the Florida Supreme Court affirmed that the scope of Amendment 2 was unequivocal: only patients with debilitating diseases and conditions would be allowed to have access to medical marijuana under Amendment 2, including those suffering from cancer, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis and Lou Gehrig’s disease among others.
----------
AD CLAIM
“How do they know it’s safe?  They don’t.”
----------
VERDICT:  FALSE
In 1988 Drug Enforcement Agency Administrative Law Judge Francis Young said, “marijuana in its natural form is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man. By any measure of rational analysis marijuana can be safely used within the supervised routine of medical care.”  There isn’t a single instance of an overdose death caused by marijuana. Marijuana is safer than many medicines commonly found in our cabinets like Advil and Tylenol, which cause 12,000 deaths per year in the United States.
----------
AD CLAIM
“Kids can legally get it without their parents’ permission.” “No parental control.”
----------
VERDICT:  FALSE
As Politifact stated in its May 20, 2014 fact check on this topic, Florida minors would not be able to get a recommendation for medical marijuana from a physician because, “currently, a parent or guardian must provide consent for medical treatment for a minor, except in emergencies or other unusual circumstances, such as when the Department of Children and Family Services must get involved.”

Florida, Rick Scott Thinks You're An Idiot

After Rick Scott's total collapse at Wednesday's debate, his campaign all but confirmed that he's writing himself a check to the tune of $22 million. Rick Scott is personally paying to stuff his Propaganda down Floridians' throats.

John Romano On Anti-Amendment 2 Hysteria

Medical marijuana opponents exaggerate. They fabricate. They find legitimate concerns and extrapolate them until they achieve maximum shock and
minimum reality.
