Hillsborough County Bureaucratic Bull Shit

Today many of us in Hillsborough County Florida attended the County Commissioners meeting. Going into this meeting I had some high hopes of receptive commissioners that had a little bit of heart and compassion. Leaving the meeting I now feel that we have real issues with a totally disconnected board of county commissioners that have not only a double standard but also suffer from a "holier than thou" syndrome. The main purpose of our visit to this meeting was to get some type of action or assistance with the abuse of power shown and flexed by HCSO in regards to the undercover deputy, Philip J. Montesi, that hit and killed Josiah Pinner on
 January 11th of 2019.
Today we witnessed County commissioners laughing at people that were standing up to address their concerns. Today we witnessed Commissioners ignoring speakers during their 3 minute allotted talk time. After seeing and hearing the excuses we were given it has become clear that this coverup of lies is blanketed with the corrupt political bureaucratic bull dung. It is this journalist opinion that the county commissioners are in full criminal collusion with the HCSO. I say this because the funding for the HCSO is provided by the county commissioners and yet they say they have no control or influence over the HCSO. When unlawful actions are covered up or ignored by higher up officials it dose mean that all parties are active participants in criminal collusion.

As a "people" of Hillsborough County we should not be laughed at by those that we elect into offices or positions. We should all be given the same respect and dignity that these elected officials demand. After witnessing the things I saw today at this public meeting it has become clear to me that we have major corruption and collusion problems in Hillsborough County Florida. You can bet that we will not give up in our stance to expose this corruption to the fullest extent of our ability. We will continue to hold protest and to peacefully assemble
to voice our concerns.

Our peaceful protest deprive this criminal collusion enterprise of three things: Capitol, Control, and Credibility.

County Keeping Rays Ybor City Plan in Play

Even though the team has walked away from discussions, Hillsborough County is working for now to keep the door open for a new Tampa Bay Rays ballpark
Hillsborough County Commissioners Overman, Murman, Miller, and Hagan nixed a motion that called for disbanding a working group created several years ago to help bring the Rays to Tampa. Officials indicated instead that, for now, they want to keep the proposal on the table in the event that discussions could resume. MORE

"Why would Kimberly Overman join Murman, Miller, and Ken Hagan in voting to keep the Raybor working group? This takes away any transparency that we should have in regards to continued negotiations to bring the Rays
to Tampa." Beth Eriksen Shoup

Thanks Commissioner Pat Kemp

Words of Pat Kemp:
Thank you all for standing up and emailing & calling to bring back the ferry study/plan. We are back on track again! The BOCC had voted 5-1 to restart the ferry study/plan that we had already paid $500,000 to finally get done.(Only Comm. Les Miller voted no this time.) (Special thanks to Jae Passmore, Gwen Meyers, Cleo L. Townsend for making it
to the meeting.
In Sept, just 2 months ago, the BOCC approved the ferry study/plan by 7-0, then suddenly for no apparent reason put the ferry on the agenda on the lame-duck session and killed the study/plan 2 months into a 4 month plan by a 6-1 vote with only me supporting finishing the study/plan we had already mostly paid for.

Hillsborough County Commissioners on their way out the door

Last month, the LAME DUCK County Commission killed the MacDill Ferry Project in one of their final acts. After causing four years of delay, they threw away $500,000 of your money, and prevented the project from delivering REAL plans this January for
moving forward.

So I'm bringing the ferry back to the new Commission this Wed to reinstate the Ferry Plan which would have been
completed in January.

Please email, call and all your commissioners.
I was the only vote to complete the plan, even though it passed with 7 to 0 support in Sept. And come down and speak at public comment before the meeting on Wed. Sign in before 9 am. Let them know you are watching. Thank you! (Stay tuned for more redo's on other terrible actions the old Commission did on the way out the door.) here

"Pat Kemp is no longer alone on the County Commission where solutions to traffic gridlock have, up to now, been thwarted by narrow minded, shore-sighted, pro-development, pro-pavement, anti-transit troglodytes."

The Approved Balm Development

A large housing development soon will encroach onto rural lands in the Balm area of eastern Hillsborough County despite the protests of area residents and the sympathy of several county commissioners.
Three commissioners — Pat Kemp, Lesley Miller and Stacy White — initially supported sending the Balm project back to the county’s hearing master for a rehearing on density issues raised by area residents, but were outvoted.
Efforts to delay the project were defeated and the project was approved with White joining those in favor. here
“I have very many concerns. I agree with the Balm community that this does not seem consistent with the rest of the area. We have turned this into a typical sprawled development. We should stop moving forward with things that don’t work for the betterment of the community,” said Kemp to loud applause from the audience.

Candidate Accused of Smoking Pot in Hotel Room...

In the 2016 election, Kim “KLARC” O’Connor pulled in 131 thousand votes to become the state’s only Green Party candidate elected to office. However, the SWCD member has recently stepped down from her seat to pursue a spot on the Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners. The move has come with its share of controversy though, as past allegations once again surfaced that O’Connor smoked marijuana in a hotel room during an official county event.

Cornering The Marijuana Market In Tampa

Remember this?
Hillsborough County Commissioners say they will only allow 13 dispensaries.

"This all just seems like going to an extreme to the benefit of monopolies."
Commissioner Pat Kemp
---
A growing number of commissioners are saying capping new businesses will protect patients and residents.
---
Lobbyists for San Felasco Nurseries, one of the state's seven approved growers, huddled with several commissioners, including Stacy White, who had spearheaded the county's medical marijuana efforts, and Ken Hagan, who would ultimately request the re-vote.

"This is our community," said Commissioner Sandy Murman, one of several board members whose opinion has shifted since March. "And safety is first." here

"Ken Hagan, Stacy White, Sandy Murman, Commissioner Victor D. Crist, Al Higginbotham y’all need to take a deep look into your souls and speak among one another."

Mariella Smith Still Raising Hell

I spoke to the County Commission today, defending neighborhoods and community plans against a powerful developer who has given $48,000 (!!!) to the 4 commissioners running for office. This is why I'm running for County Commission. To stand up for us citizens, not special interests.
We need to fill our Commission with citizen representatives who will fight for us, so we don't have to keep fighting them!
Thanks to Commissioner Patricia Kemp who made a motion to deny the developer's bad proposal. Unfortunately, the rest of the board voted to make us all jump through another hoop, making us go through a do-over hearing on August 20. Still, it's better than it would have been without us. They would have voted to approve -- for the developer, against us citizens -- if we hadn't shown up and fought hard. So we'll just have to come back to fight this again.
This proposal is so bad, it was opposed by the county's own planning staff, the Planning Commission, AND the Zoning Hearing Master in their preliminary reviews. Yet the County Commissioners almost approved it today, and surely would have, if we citizens weren't there.
Thanks to Ruskin Citizens and Keystone Citizens for showing up and standing together against this assault on our community plans. here

Hillsborough County GOP Coup Attempt Averted

Commission Chairwoman Sandy Murman withdrew her proposal to eliminate countywide seats and, instead, create nine single-member districts.

They know the GOP brand is so tarnished they now have a new scheme, to switch from partisan to non-partisan the elections for sheriff, property appraiser and other offices established in the state Constitution. here
