Music Benefit at The Hub

Two days of music, including jazz, pop, folk, reggae, Irish, Americana, Latin and blues, to support ASAP Homeless Services. The benefit will also include lots of barbecue and other food available for purchase, along with a wine tasting. ASAP is struggling in these hard economic times when homelessness is increasing. This benefit will help them keep the doors open for those who need their help the most.

6:00 PM-12:00 midnight on Friday, July 29th and 2:00PM -12:00 midnight on Saturday July 30th.

D3 Homeless Initiative

New Blogger Helping The Homeless.

I'm Deputy Steven Donaldson with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office here in Tampa, Florida. You may have heard of the homeless initiative I started just over a year ago which has recently received some media attention. We have been successful in assisting 55 homeless with housing in a years time and the effort has expanded throughout the county in three of our four districts, thus far.

I recently started a blog, D3HomelessInitiative, to promote the effort and broadcast the effort's productive results in the form of pictorials and written essays of individual stories. The Sheriff's Office has embraced the concept since it seems to have had both a quantitative and qualitative impact on the streets within our jurisdictional boundaries.

The Sheriff' Office has allowed me to work on this effort full-time and we also have two additional deputies dedicated to this cause, one each, in District I (University area) and District II (Brandon area). I work in District III (Town N' Country, Carrollwood) where the effort originated.

Thank you for your help.
Steve
