North Carolina Welcome To St.Pete

Today, North Carolina stands as the state with the dubious distinction of having the worst anti-LGBT legislation in the country. Mayor Rick Kriseman says St. Petersburg, Florida., is open for business even if N.C. is not. here

Ed Turanchik: Commissioner Choo-Choo

In the 90's, the small minds around these parts nicknamed
 Ed Turanchik "Commissioner Choo-Choo"
for his vision of our future.

Today we are being attacked
by the Florida DOT,
Our answer to  transportation
"GO Hillsborough" is a sham.
CSX offered tracks remain trainless.
We have elected people that vote against our wishes and city.

We are fortunate that Mr. Turanchik's commitment to transportation has continued. With the help of another local visionary Rick Kriseman, we now have ferry service between Tampa and St. Pete. Maybe it's time Mr. Turanchik start wearing that moniker with pride.
Protect Tampa at all cost!

No Welcome For Bigoted Pastor Jamal Bryant In St. Petersburg

He has called homosexuality a sin that's on par with drug addiction and gambling. He has criticized those in his church who accept homosexuality as "cowards" and called President Barack Obama's support for gay marriage an example of political expediency. "I'm scared of all these civil rights leaders and all these preachers kissing up to the president just because he's black," Bryant said in the 2012 video. "He's black and wrong. He's black and out of order." here
----------
He was invited to be the keynote speaker at the 30th annual MLK Leadership Awards Breakfast by Angela Rouson, wife of State Rep. Darryl Rouson. He said he thought the event could be used as an opportunity for Bryant to change his views on gay marriage.
----------
Mayor Rick Kriseman has declined a request to give the ceremonial key to
the city to the speaker

Juked Statistics In St. Pete

I've seen it suggested that St. Petersburg crime statistics are manipulated or "juked." I don't know what "juked" numbers are, but the simple fact is that crime is down in St. Petersburg in large part because the community is
re-engaged. Benjamin Kirby

Three Cheers For Mayor Rick Kriseman

"The vision is clear: ferry service that makes the trip from St. Pete to Tampa fun; that takes cars off our congested highways; that saves time and aggravation for commuters; that takes us to ballgames, museums, concerts, the theater and other public events; that helps our tourists shuttle between all of the attractions within the Tampa Bay region; that reduces the isolation of our South Hillsborough County residents; and that one day may connect us to Key West, New Orleans or even Cuba."
Dave Scott, President of Tampa Bay Citizens for
High Speed Ferries.

Ferry Linking Tampa And St. Pete

A commuter ferry service may be still years away but weekend ferry rides across Tampa Bay could be running in as little as a year through a pilot program pushed by St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman. He plans to pitch the idea to Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn at a meeting next week. (Good luck with that!) He said he has no qualms about working with Turanchik, whose failed attempts to bring the 2012 Olympics and commuter rail to Tampa have led some to dub him a dreamer. here
