Trump indicted in Stormy Daniels hush-money case


Former President Trump was indicted on criminal charges in New York on Thursday for his role in organizing hush money payments made to an adult film star during his 2016 campaign, according to a source familiar with the proceedings.

The history-making indictment marks the first time a president has been charged in a criminal matter and comes as several law enforcement entities are investigating Trump’s conduct in numerous probes.

Florida bill would make restrooms exclusive to males, females


A bill filed in the Florida House and Senate would make it a crime if a person refuses to leave a bathroom that does not match their sex assigned at birth.

CS/HB 1521, dubbed the “Safety in Private Spaces Act,” would make it a second-degree misdemeanor for people 18 years or older to use a restroom or changing facility designated for the opposite sex if they refuse to immediately leave when asked.

Gun rights activists say permitless carry misses target, should be rejected by Gov. DeSantis


As the Senate prepares to pass a permitless carry bill, many hard-line conservatives say Gov. Ron DeSantis should reject it.

“This bill is a half-measure and is not what gun owners were promised,” said gun activist Matt Collins. “It isn’t true Constitutional Carry because it doesn’t include an open carry provision. This bill is weak and failed leadership on part of Governor DeSantis and the Republican legislative leadership. Gun owners deserve better.”

Gasparilla Music Festival 2023 lineup

With 30 days until gates open, Tampa's Gasparilla Music Festival (GMF) has announced that a giant of the modern rap game will headline the 2023 edition of its party.

Run The Jewels, the duo featuring Killer Mike and El-P, leads GMF's initial lineup announcement made public this morning. While a daily lineup has yet to be announced, Run the Jewels, which just announced a 10th anniversary tour, and will presumably headline night one of GMF on Saturday, April 29 in downtown Tampa.

Florida permitless carry bill expected to pass today


The Florida Senate is expected to pass a bill allowing people to carry concealed firearms without a permit on Thursday. It comes as the debate around guns heats up following the Nashville school shooting.

If approved by the Senate, the bill, HB 543, will head to the Gov. DeSantis’ desk. He’s already said he would sign the bill.

Jane Goodall visits Tampa Bay, hopes to inspire environmental action

"Everywhere it's much the same," Jane Goodall said. "We're destroying ecosystems, we're polluting the atmosphere, the land, the air, the water." 

Jane Goodall is a world-renowned ethologist and conservationist who gave a lecture at the Tampa Theatre on Wednesday evening. She is best known for her work with primates, but said she is also concerned with the protection of Tampa Bay's native species.
