Corporate Welfare: $3,796 Per Job In Florida

For the past 16 years, more than $80 million in state incentives backed by taxpayer money helped recruit and subsidize companies creating nearly 20,000 jobs around Tampa Bay. In more than 200 deals since 1996 by Enterprise Florida in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties, the largest sum handed over to a firm is $19.6 million to California research firm SRI International. In 2009 SRI opened a marine research facility in St. Pe t e r s b u r g . The number of SRI jobs documented by the state so far: 86.

Hillsborough County Corporate Welfare

Hillsborough County may pay a financial services firm more than $1 million partly to help it add workers, but partly just to stick around. If the company takes the money, it could set a new precedent for the county that - potentially - would encourage other companies to seek money for retaining workers. Traditionally, the county has given incentives for creating new jobs or luring new companies to the area.
Tuesday morning, Hillsborough County Commissioners approved offering an unnamed company

an economic incentive package worth $1.2 million.

Now we have to pay for the right to work.

Ben Affleck: Corporate Welfare Whore

Ben Affleck bought the film rights to “Live By Night” a novel by former Tampa area writer Dennis Lehane set in Ybor City during the 1920s and 1930s about a petty Boston thief’s rise to successful Gulf Coast rum runner. (Un)fortunately for Tampa, the absence of state tax incentives for movie productions “Live By Night” will bypass the original. Instead,
a fake Ybor City
is being erected in Georgia. here
Remember this when this movie comes to local theaters.

Ethics Free Florida GOP

Special Session Starting In Tallahassee
NOT to expand access to healthcare to over
one million hard working Floridians.
NOT to repeal the Nuclear Cost Recovery fee
(Corporate Welfare).
NOT to help stifle the skyrocketing home owners
insurance rates across the state.

They are using your tax dollars to call us all back to Tallahassee because their lack of transparency and ethics was finally drawn to light this past week. A Judge ruled that the Republican leadership made a "mockery" of the legislative process in drawing our Congressional districts in 2012.
Now your tax dollars are being used
 to fix their mistakes.

Do your thing on 11.4.14. Rid Florida of its Right Wing Infestation.
