Wannabe: Lincoln Project mocks Gov. Ron DeSantis skipping high-profile conference

Wannabe

Gov. Ron DeSantis may talk tough, but his no-show at a high-profile conservative conference is earning him a profile in cowardice from the Lincoln Project.

The project is dropping a 45-second ad, “Wannabe,” this morning to its millions of followers on social media networks, riffing on DeSantis’ decision to stay away from the political equivalent of Mecca for White House hopefuls — this week’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland that started Wednesday.

The Governor has all but declared he’s a candidate for President, but his vanishing act shows the real DeSantis is not the tough-talking bully he portrays at his news conferences or in the ad “God Made a Fighter” — especially not if former President Donald Trump might be in the room, according to Rick Wilson, Lincoln Project co-founder.

Fox Host Asks Ron DeSantis Why His Campaign Sucks So Badly

Fox host Maria Bartiromo didn't hold back during an interview with Florida governor and GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis over the weekend, and she asked him frankly what has happened to his campaign. She pointed out that he is losing ground in the polls as Trump's support grows, and DeSantis simply laughed it off like it was no big deal. DeSantis is quickly becoming the biggest flop that the Republicans have had in a long time, and the real reason is glaringly obvious, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Ron DeSantis Carves Out a Brand as a Book-Burning, Anti-LGBTQ+, Racist Authoritarian

Ideological attacks on public education are central to the politics of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is carving out a brand as a book-burning, gay-phobic, transphobic, racist authoritarian. A Fauci-hater and anti-vax hero of right-wing media, DeSantis restricted instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation with his "Don't Say Gay" law. He limited what schools can teach about racism and diversity with his "Stop WOKE" law. He rejected math textbooks en masse for what the state called "prohibited topics," such as critical race theory; and he banned an Advanced Placement course in African-American studies for high school students on the grounds that it is a tool for "political indoctrination." Playing the wannabe tough guy, he wants to troll his way to the White House as America's premiere culture warrior.

DEATH WISH: Ron DeSantis and his contempt for senior citizens

Social security is at risk, and the conservative answer seems to be finding ways to avoid paying out to those senior citizens who’ve spent their lives paying in.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is again using life expectancy as an excuse to cut social security — though he’s now using the exact opposite argument from what he presented a decade ago. Back then, DeSantis suggested that with increasing life expectancy, social security must be cut, and now, he’s instead citing the shorter lifespans of today’s senior citizens.

Ron DeSantis vows to strip accreditation from colleges with DEI programs

If elected President, Ron DeSantis is promising big changes to American higher education, including moves to “totally blow up the accreditation cartel.”

During an interview on the Hugh Hewitt Show, DeSantis said embracing “alternative accreditors” would allow for social justice initiatives embraced by universities to be scuttled.

“It’s going to be, instead of you have to have gender studies or you have to have (diversity, equity and inclusion) to get accredited, it will be the opposite. We’re not going to accredit you if you have DEI and some of these other things,” the graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School said.
