Florida Rising
As much of the national attention focuses on the massive pro-union demonstrations in Madison, Wisconsin, where over a 100,000 people gathered to oppose an anti-union law on Saturday, March 12, Florida workers and activists are taking aim against budget cuts and laws that threaten to further widen the already huge divide between rich and poor in our state.

Governor Rick Scott's proposed budget would cut funding for public schools, lay off thousands of state workers, and give corporations a $1.5 billion tax cut. But worst of all, Republicans in Tallahassee are pushing a permanent, across-the-board funding limit that would prevent
the state from ever restoring these draconian cuts.
Wisconsin showed that the people are not going to let corporations and their allies on the right trample the American Dream without a fight. Now we have to send that same message in Florida.

Tampa-Cuba Ferry Proposed
President Obama recently allowed flights from Tampa to Cuba. Now, two companies are vying to establish what would be the first regularly-scheduled ferry service to the communist country.
