SPB: Bob Buckhorn Scandals

"The day after the 2014 elections,  Buckhorn all but declared that he would run for governor in 2018. In fact, the Tampa mayor entered 2015 as the de facto frontrunner for the Democratic nomination. That was then; this is now. After a series of troubling scandals, including revelations that his police department disproportionately targeted black residents and that one of his chief political advisers, Beth Leytham, is nothing less than the Rasputin of Riverwalk, many Democrats now wonder if Buckhorn will even run in 2018. Meanwhile, his lackluster fundraising for his political committee, expected to be a vehicle for a 2018 run, isn’t inspiring much confidence."

Marco Rubio Protecting His Masters

Rubio added his name to a letter addressed to FCC chairman Tom Wheeler, urging the FCC to block municipalities from providing broadband services to their residents. Municipalities such as Chattanooga, which provides broadband access up to one gigabit per second, are allowing their residents to have access to broadband at faster speeds and cheaper prices than telecoms such as AT&T. here

Jeb Bush’s role in freeing a Cuban terrorist

An international terrorist enters the United States illegally, with no visa. FBI agents alert their superiors; the suspect is linked to more than 40 bombings — including blowing up a civilian airliner. He makes it clear he has no intention of renouncing violence to achieve his goals. here

Pat Kemp For Hillsborough County Commissioner

"When I'm a Hillsborough County Commissioner, I will work hard to move the energy change agenda forward. The Paris agreement “sends a very powerful message to the business and investment community that the age of fossil fuels is ending.” The economic and environmental implications of this deal for Americans are staggering. In the near term, it will unlock an accelerating multi-trillion-dollar shift in capital investment away from carbon-intensive coal and oil, which were the cornerstone of the first industrial revolution, into clean technologies like solar, wind, LED lighting, advanced batteries, and electric cars. It means far less harmful carbon pollution will be emitted in the coming years. Thus, “continued investments in high-carbon assets conflicts
with their fiduciary responsibility.” Pat Kemp

FL SUPREME COURT RULES IN FAVOR OF MEDICAL MARIJUANA PETITION

On Thursday, December 17th, 2015 the Florida Supreme Court ruled in favor of theUse of Marijuana for Debilitating Medical Conditions petition. The final hurdle to making the 2016 ballot will be gathering enough valid signatures- 683,149. At the time of the Supreme Court ruling, 400,032 petitions had been validated. With 900,000 gathered, United for Care is confident they will garner enough valid signatures to make the 2016 ballot.
This ruling comes as no surprise to United for Care, the organization spearheading the effort to make the 2016 ballot.

Ben Pollara, Campaign Manager, said, "The unanimous decision by the Florida Supreme Court to approve the new medical marijuana constitutional amendment is a huge victory for hundreds of thousands of sick and suffering Floridians who could benefit from the passage of such a law. While we still must collect the required number of petitions before officially being placed on the 2016 ballot, we are confident that we will and that Florida voters will approve this amendment in the general election. In 2014, four of seven Supreme Court justices approved our ballot language and 58% of Floridians voted "yes"; this time, all seven justices approved our language and we feel strongly that well over the required 60% of Floridians will vote "yes" for a comprehensive and compassionate medical marijuana law."

United for Care's chairman, John Morgan, stated,
"This is a huge victory for Florida. We will win next November.
Compassion is coming!"
