Fast Ride - No More #4
Beats #36 and #19
Downside, only runs once an hour and
no downtown service on Sunday.

Insider scoop: Heard grumbling from the folks who live near MacDill Ave and lost their #4 and now have to walk to Dale Mabry. On Interbay half the way with no sidewalk.

Rick Baker's Inside Help

Poynter Foundation board member and
political operative Barry Edwards
Poynter needs to explain to the journalistic community that it allegedly serves exactly what criteria are used to select its board members.  Are there any background checks?  Why do Poynter/Times/Baker demand details of the 16-year-old charges against King but ignore the criminal missteps of Edwards?  Doesn’t the Poynter/Times/Baker association with Edwards show a complete lack of judgment and standards? here

Florida's Culture Of Corruption: Erik Fresen

Erik Fresen is finally going to jail. He shouldn’t have never been allowed anywhere near our tax dollars — especially ones for the state’s public schools. He was what you might call an interested party in the constant battle for public dollars that traditional public schools fight with privately run charter schools.
-----------
Fresen was a lobbyist for Academica, a charter school management company that operates more than 100 schools, most of them in Florida. And he was also a $150,000-a-year land consultant for Civica, the architectural company that builds charter schools for Academica. Fresen’s brother-in-law is the founder of Academica.
------------
So it’s little wonder that in Florida’s Republican-controlled Legislature, Fresen would take on a starring role as the architect of legislation that shifted tax dollars to privately run charters at the expense of public schools. here

Mobilization To Tallahassee To Stop Anti-Immigrant Efforts

We have to mobilize to Tallahassee on Tuesday. Our state legislature is trying to sneak through an anti-sanctuary enforcement bill that would criminalize and punish communities that try to create welcoming and protective environment for immigrants with heavy fines and restrictions of fund, in an effort to continue separating our families through deportations. here

Gus Bilirakis: Reaction To The Robert Mueller Indictments

"I support investigative efforts as we work to ensure that our democratic process is protected from external interference, but it's important that we are not distracted from the important work at hand like tax reform. Rest assured though, that anyone who has violated the law should swiftly be brought to justice. To date, I have not seen proof that there was any wrongdoing by the President or collusion between his campaign and Russia." Source

University of South Florida: Let Adjuncts Vote

University of South Florida adjuncts filed for a union months ago. Ever since, USF has done everything it can to keep them from voting.
It’s not right to deny adjuncts their right to a fair and free election. Add your name at right and tell USF to let adjuncts vote!
Adjuncts filed for a union election last semester, but the University has employed every possible tactic to block their vote. They’ve even tried to claim that adjuncts aren’t employees. It’s time for USF to stop dragging its feet and let adjuncts vote.

The Interstate Traveler Hydrogen Superhighway

Repost from November 27, 2007
----------
If the Sunshine State had a real high-speed rail system, how would it look? Unlike most every other type of mass transit, the Hydrogen Superhighway requires no public investment for construction or maintenance. The Interstate Traveler is solar-powered! It manufactures its own hydrogen fuel with the power of the sun.

Dear Diary: November 30, 2020

It has been almost a month since Americans soundly defeated the fascist at the polls. I was awaken early this morning after a long night with friends at The Reservoir. I was shocked to see two well dressed men at my door. They asked me if they could come in to talk to me about the election. They said they were from Homeland Security and wanted to ask me a few questions about it. Of course since I had nothing to hide I told them to come in. I was polite, asked them to sit down and if they wanted me to make them some coffee.  They politely declined.

I had volunteered in various ways for our new president. I was worried that I was on some kind of list and was in trouble. What they asked me was both shocking and unexpected. They wanted to know if I would give them a list of friends who had voted for and supported the fascist. They said they were rounding them up to stick in some kind of, as they put it "Reeducation Camps."

As misguided and ignorant my friends were they are still my friends. I had no clue what to say.
