Tourist finds barely used train tracks in Ybor, leading downtown and out of town.

Tampa Bay Buy The Damn Trains

The CSX presentation in September has fired up rail proponents, who see a gift-wrapped system that could move people from downtown Tampa through downtown Clearwater into downtown St. Petersburg, north through Pasco County as far as Brooksville in Hernando, with connections to the University of South Florida and Tampa International Airport. here

So what's the hold up?
"Without a better transportation system, tourism in the Tampa area is likely to shrink from its current record levels and the region will lose its capacity to draw businesses to the urban core, according to two groups that promote economic development." Visit Tampa Bay and the Tampa Downtown Partnership. Maybe we need Jan Platt's solution!

Mario Nunez: Jeff Brandes is an arrogant bully and doesn't deserve our respect

"Sorry I was forced to leave early.
(Legislative Delegation @ Amalie Arena)
The Delegation did their damnedest to insure we went last, and even cut our time to just one minute. I wanted to direct my comments at

Jeff Brandes who is an arrogant bully and doesn't deserve our respect. He looked me straight in eye and lied about the TBX costing only $3B and that it would pay for itself. He claims, "people are coming, we need to add capacity". Follow the money on this, someone is getting a kickback. It's shameful." Mario Nunez

TBX: Lipstick On A Pig

Tampa Bay no need to worry, FDOT has offered to put dog parks, ball courts or other green spaces under or near the overpasses and try to enhance interstate walls and supports with brick, ornamental lighting or public art so when you are sitting in the patio at Lee's Grocery on Central Ave in Tampa Heights having your beer and pizza you will be able to enjoy the huge artsy wall in front of you. here

"The citizens wanted to have their voice heard, and they did it through the ballot box. The incumbents who lost got complacent and weren’t really listening to the citizens.” Danny Phillips, a toll opponent and the top vote-geter in the board race.

Looking good Guido! here
Don't forget Mayor Bob likes this idea too. Should we re-post this once a month to remind voters? Plant City and Temple Yerrace pay attention.
