Florida Democratic Party Still Doesn't Get It

This was supposed to be the Florida Democrats' year. The Blue Wave was cresting. Andrew Gillum was a strong candidate for governor. Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott were grotesque, cretinous candidates and seemingly awful human beings. Everything looked so easy. So of course the Florida Democrats blew it.
---
They're the Florida Democrats! They're a group of party apparatchiks and generally privileged white people who treat political representation like a club and a hobby instead of seeing politics as the very dire, important, often-life-altering issue that it is. The party is currently staffed by people who reward those who stress loyalty and tradition over good ideas. more

Florida New Dems

The New Democrat Coalition: A group of 68 centrist, pro-business House Democrats. The group was founded in 1997 as an affiliate of the Democratic Leadership Council, a now-defunct nonprofit that worked to shift the Democratic party away from populist, left-wing policies and towards a more business-friendly, Clintonian agenda. Twenty of the 30 newly-elected Democrats who pledged to reject corporate cash took campaign contributions from the corporate-funded NewDemPAC. In Florida: Darren Soto, Debbie Wasserman Schultz,

Chris Hunter, Al Lawson, Lauren Baer,

Florida Amendment 4 Pause

Florida GOP might not be ready to put Amendment 4 — a measure approved by 64.5% of Florida voters that would give voting rights back to most felons who have completed their sentences — into action.
---
According to WFTV 9,  the state has put enforcement of the amendment on pause until the new governor, Republican Ron DeSantis, is sworn in. WFTV reported that lawmakers are waiting to see if the Florida Legislature might need to weigh in on the measure. The amendment, which would restore voting rights to more than 1.5 million felons, does not call for any involvement of this kind. HERE
