That is the question former U.S. Sen. and Gov. Bob Graham asked after his speech Friday to the Economic Club of Florida on the oil spill disaster in the Gulf. Although he chose his words carefully, his point is that the political climate today has revived the question which he believes was put to rest 40 years ago: Is Florida for sale?
Republican Senator Greg Evers has proposed a loosening of the state’s gun laws in a bill which would allow gun owners with a permit to openly wear their handguns in public view. here
This week the Pentagon sank to a new low: claiming that Dr. King would "understand" the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. King's legacy is clear: he opposed war and other violence and condemned war as "an enemy of the poor."
"The great initiative in this war is ours. The initiative to end it must be ours." --Martin Luther King, Jr., speaking of Vietnam.
More Americans will be allowed to travel to Cuba, likely from Tampa International Airport, under changes announced Friday by the Obama administration. here The White House said it was easing restrictions to enhance the "free flow of information" and promote the independence of the Cuban people from communist rule. I have been saying this for over 40 years. Without the embargo the Castro brothers would have been gone along time ago. The Miami Cuban Mafia is responsible for the suffering of the cuban people all these years, not the Castros. Stop The War On The Cuban People! Thanks Kathy Castor.
This shows you the alternate reality Florida Republicans live in. Tom Clendenning of the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation testified before the Senate Commerce & Tourism Committee. Clendenning told the committee Florida could save $800,000 per year by adding five employees to the Agency for Workforce Innovation to investigate people who are not looking for work. here "When the rich fuck the poor, that's business. When the poor complain about it,
"And I say good for them. Greg Sargent of The Plum Line and Dave Cook of the Christian Science Monitor call out George Will on what he wrote on Dean's words about the Tea Party.".......MadFloridian
"For too long the dangerous propagandist tactic of mixing of truth, half-truths and lies has been used to inflame popular sentiments and fear. It was therefore disappointing to see The Post contribute to this cycle of vitriol in our public discourse with a column by George F. Will that erroneously claimed I called the Tea Party racist. In fact, as Post blogger Greg Sargent pointed out by fully citing my comments, I specifically said that I did not consider the Tea Party to be racist. It's time we each do our part to stop this cycle of vitriol.".......Howard Dean
Annual Point-in-Time Count Census conducted during the last seven days of each January to produce “statistically reliable, unduplicated counts or estimates of homeless persons in sheltered and unsheltered locations at a one-day point in time." info Thank You Mr. Kirby.
In a sleepy mayoral campaign to date, it’s a candidate for city council that is responding to Dick Greco’s “Give Me Five” signs and stickers around Tampa directly. Benjamin, a candidate for the District 6 seat , has released a parody of that Greco sign with his own riposte. here Vote Kelly
Volunteers Needed For Homeless Count Hillsborough County's next homeless count, coordinated by the Homeless Coalition of Hillsborough County, will be done on Thursday, January 27, 2011 between 4 a.m. and 11 p.m.
Things That Make You Go Hmmm... After 2 days of very heavy chemtrail activity in Phoenix, which caused pretty much a “whiteout” of the sky, we have a day with a blue sky and very little fake cloud/chemtrail action. What we do have today is an incredibe amount of particulate matter and fibers flying around, and we are breathing this awful stuff, we are drinking it in the water. here And now we have Jared Loughner. Look at the sky over Tampa today. These things are all over the place.
In the wake of the Arizona shootings last week, politicians from across the country have called for changing the tone of politics. But if members of Congress (and other political leaders) want to change the culture of public debate, they need to look in the mirror first. Their own behavior helps foster the bad behavior from some of their constituents. Consider Kathy Castor
I too am pissed off at the way they are treating Odyssey Marine Exploration. Call Ms. Castor and tell her what you think.
The dictator gets the support from another dictator. While they have not seen each other since Dick Greco's illegal trip to Cuba in 2003 to show support for the communist regime Fidel said he still admires the stern reign of Greco and they speak often. here

In the last few years there have been a series of violent events by unhinged characters inspired by the paranoia-fueled speech of right-wing leaders. Since each of these incidents is seen as an isolated example of a lone nut, no one has put these events together to see how prevalent these sorts of attacks have become. here
Let me start by saying i love Apalachicola Bay, it's a beautiful place and i love oysters, raw please. Recently my conservative friend and i were out having a few Yuenglings. My friend ordered a doz. Apalachicola Bay Oysters. I informed him about the dangers of eating oysters from that area. Most people know oysters are Filter Feeders (Animals that feed by straining suspended matter and food particles from water, typically by passing the water over a specialized filtering structure.)
With all the oil and chemicals in gulf waters right now i did not think it was a very good idea. Well he ridiculed my advise and ate them anyway. To his health!
