Ybor City Stogie - 20th Birthday
Started as a website on March 19, 2003 at a Howard Dean meeting in Ybor (also launched on that day was the Iraq war). The name comes from the film shot in Ybor City in the 80's, "Long Gone". I wanted to quit many times over the years but never did. I am grateful to have such talented people working along side me now.
Tell us what you think of the Stogie in the comments below."

Voucher program expansion could take away $848M from Tampa Bay public schools
Florida lawmakers are pushing for an expansion of the state’s charter school voucher program. While legislature estimates put the cost of the expansion at just shy of $210 million for the state budget, policy impact analysts put the overall cost at roughly $4 billion.
For 10 counties in the Tampa Bay area, the voucher legislation, House Bill 1, could mean almost $850 million gets moved from public schools to charter schools in the 2023-2024 school year, according to estimates by the Florida Policy Institute.

Universal school choice legislation heading to the House floor
An amended version of the House’s legislation that will expand school choice to all students is advancing and will now head for the House floor.
Some Democrats voted with the majority to advance the bill.
The new version of the school choice bill (HB 1) still offers vouchers for all students, regardless of family income, but it’s going to make it so that public schools can compete on a more even playing field, supporters say. It loosens some regulations regarding student transportation and certification, to name a few.
