Media coverage of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s all-but-announced candidacy for president is already in full frenzy, and so far the script is exactly as his handlers would like it to be. The governor regularly opens up new fronts in the culture wars, sowing alarm over critical race theory, transgender rights, or border policies. In response, liberal pundits fall into the trap of accentuating the very issues DeSantis has chosen to fire up his base.
Omitted from the public debate about DeSantis’s policies is almost any discussion of his actual record of governance—what exactly he has delivered to the citizens of his state, especially those without seven-figure incomes and lush investment portfolios.

The Senate Fiscal Policy Committee on Tuesday voted 12-7 to approve the bill (SB 300) after hearing often-emotional testimony from people on both sides of the issue. That approval sent the issue to the full Senate, where it is scheduled for a Thursday floor session.
"This begs the question, why are we making it easier to carry guns but harder to vote? says State Rep. Lavon Bracy Davis, (D) Orlando. "Why are we having conversations about expanding gun laws instead of expanding Medicaid? Why is it that getting guns is so easy and getting books is so hard?”.....MORE

Last week, I called out Peter Schorsch as an unscrupulous parasite after his impotent attempt to smear Lynn Hurtak . Here, we see La Gaceta has done more reporting on the relevant parties, including Ashley Brooke Bauman Janet Cruz RifkinJanet CruzJane Castor ... My thought is that Schorsch used his political rag to publish a long form campaign hit piece pitched (if not authored) by Bauman. The only names missing from this cast of flawed souls are Bob Buckhorn and the Mayor's partner, Ana Cruz (the self-proclaimed first lady of Tampa). But, rest assured, they are just off stage.
The only honorable person in this whole disgusting episode is Lynn Hurtak. The rest should be ashamed of themselves.
There are significant problems with candidate Janet Cruz. Conflict of interest concerns have been raised. Temperament and judgment issues were raised during the NAACP candidate forum. No issues are more important to me, as a voter, than values and character.
On all these criteria, Cruz has fallen far short of the mark. She should have retired from politics after her state senate loss. Instead, she and her team of hapless hacks are daily destroying whatever reputation she had left. Tampa deserves far better.
Fortunately, with Lynn Hurtak on Council, we have far better. I am honored to support her.
Please share this with your friends. My reach is too limited to make a difference. Together, we can make sure voters are informed.
