Reports began to surface this week that Trump's legal team is preparing for him to be indicted in the state of Georgia, but it was easy to dismiss those reports given the timeline that Fulton County DA Fani Willis has laid out. But then Willis said in an interview that the federal indictment won't have any impact on the indictments from Georgia, hinting very strongly that the former President is almost certainly going to be indicted again. Trump’s journey in facing 37 felony counts begins on Tuesday. Inside the building, it will look like almost every other defendant ever booked, yet it will be unlike any case ever filed in U.S. courts.
First, Trump was not “arrested.” Showing up at the courthouse is in lieu of an arrest.
Thus, Trump will be driven into the building and into the arms of the FBI, who will take him into custody. At that point, he is under arrest until released by a judge.
