Stop using these two types of eye drops, FDA warns
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers not to use two brands of eye drops due to contamination that could cause a potentially deadly infection.
Tests of the drops, Dr. Berne’s MSM Drops 5% Solution and LightEyez MSM Eye Drops – Eye repair, found bacterial and fungal contamination, the FDA said in a news release Tuesday. Using the products could result in a “serious vision-threatening infection which could possibly progress to a life-threatening infection,” according to the FDA.

Xernona Clayton, Civil Rights Leader, To Speak With Tampa Police Leadership
On Thursday, August 24, 2024, Xernona Clayton will be visiting the Tampa Police Department and speaking with Tampa Police leaders to share her experiences and insights gained during the Civil Rights Movement.
Ms. Clayton will meet personally with Mayor Jane Castor and Chief Lee Bercaw, prior to speaking before the Tampa City Council at 9:00 a.m. She will then head to Tampa Police Headquarters to meet with the department’s Command Staff.

U.S. YOUTH ATTITUDES ON GUNS REPORT
Since 2020, guns have been the leading cause of death in the United States for children and teens. While the proliferation of gun access and gun violence often dominate national, state and local headlines, little has been done to understand the views young people have on these pervasive issues.
To address this gap, Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, the Polarization & Extremism Research & Innovation Lab (PERIL) and SPLC came together to study young people’s access to guns, experiences with gun violence, feelings of safety and mental wellbeing, as well as their views on male supremacy, racial resentment and the Second Amendment.

SHAME: Only Black students at Florida school were singled out for bad test scores, report says
Parents at one Florida elementary school are upset that only Black students were singled out for bad test scores, regardless if they were below-average, average, or above-average, according to a report.
Black students at Bunnell Elementary in Flagler County were reportedly called into an assembly Friday and lectured about consequences of not being successful, according to WESH. The students were allegedly told if they’re not successful, they could end up killed or going to jail.
